I admit to being a complete novice as far as creating pictures in pastels, so, rather than waste one vast amount of cash on materials and artist aids I may never need, I thought one, well chosen reference book would be the sensible place to start.
After a short amount of internet research I found 'The Pastel Artist's Bible' and I can honestly say it's one of the finest reference books I've ever owned. This chunky, colourful, spiral bound edition, superbly printed, manages to cover every conceivable aspect of the subject in concise, visual terms; from basic pastels and papers, guiding through colour mixes and numerous techniques, to detailed tutorials on every conceivable subject.
Now I'm inspired to become an artist in pastels, I'll take this 'essential reference' pocketbook with me everywhere.
