A very powerful story about a couple who have experienced the tragic loss of their child. Still so in love but unable to move on. The way Dominic feels about Erin is obvious and he does everything he can to bring her around. Lots of sexual situations but never smutty. They learn to believe in each other again.

This is the 1st book I have read by Jasmine Haynes, bought after reading the review. I have since purchased the other books in the series!
Yes, the book is erotic but does keep a storyline - unlike other books in the same vein.
The book deals with the guilt, shame and blame a couple (and their extended family who are afraid to mention anything prior to the accident) have for each other following a tragedy, which was no one's fault.
Neither can speak to each other so the couple communicate through sex only, until a threat is made which means they have to become a team or lose!
Once I started reading was kept hooked until the end.

One of the hottest sexiest erotic books I have read in a long time. I just could not put it down.

It begins............just past midnight, she reached for him in the dark. He lived for the nights when she reached for him as if his flesh was touch starved. They never spoke and she wouldn't cry out when she came. without words sex was anti-intimacy, yet this is all that was left of their marriage, these dark moments after midnight........

Eric and Dominic deKnight had it all until the loss of their son. This blew their relationship apart. Erin blocked out everything to do with her little boy whilst Dominic wanted to talk about him, remember him in their lives but Erin would not even say his name. Erin was unaware that her pain also affectd the people she worked with and they tripped around her avoiding any discussions about children.

Dominic wanted his wife back and tried to make her live again and decided that a little kink could bring back the spark that was missing from their marriage. Their love life moves from the bedroom to public parties, to a retreat where anything is possible.

Will it be enough though to revive their dead marriage or will it ultimately bury it?

Jasmine Haynes has written an exceptional, fast paced erotic romance which bursts with intense passion, a realistic story line which will remain one of my favourites.

There are two further books in the DeKnight series - book 2 (What Happens after Dark)and book 3 (The Principals Office). Note none of these titles are available on Kindle.

Emotionally satisfying and sexually adventurous this was a surprisingly deep erotic romance. 6 May 2011

Past Midnight by Jasmine Haynes
Contemporary Romance -May 3rd, 2011
4 stars

Past Midnight by Jasmine Haynes is an erotic emotional roller coaster as the two main characters struggle to deal with a failing marriage after the death of their son Jay.

Erin loved her son Jay. When he died so did much of her will to live. Her husband, Dominic has struggled to bring Erin back from her self imposed emotional exile but finds they can only connect at night, when they have heated sex. Dominic wants more and refuses to give up on their relationship. He feels he needs to shock Erin back to life and gets her to agree to a small vacation. But this is only the start of an enthralling sexual odyssey that will hopefully bring them back together.

This book has incredibly HOT writing. That only gets steamier as it progresses. My first thought was how lucky Erin was to have such a devoted and patient husband who is determined to `get her back.' As Dominic pushes Erin, she is forced to feel and is stunned by how much she enjoys living again and exploring her wilder side. But she is still afraid of letting down her walls. Dominic is the perfect hero. Sexy and supportive. As for the heroine, I could understand Erin's pain but sometimes I got a little frustrated with her because Dominic needed her, too.

Emotionally satisfying and sexually adventurous this was a surprisingly deep erotic romance.

super erotic tale 3 May 2011
By Harriet Klausner - Published on
Format: Paperback
Neither Erin nor Dominic DeKnight coped with the death of their son Jay. They failed to find comfort with one another though she admits to herself that he helps her through the long night, and compounded the tragedy with guilt and silent accusations. Their marriage appears heading towards a collapse as he has gone on with their business while she neglects it as she struggles to get through the holidays.

The couple attends the Pri Trade show when he decides afterward it is time for his beloved Erin and himself to rejoin the living as a couple as he knows Jay would want nothing less than that for his parents. He bullies her into attending a wild party with him where Erin and Dominic begin exploring their sex fantasies. However, as they enjoy their trysts, someone is stealing their business secrets.

The opening DeKnight saga is a super erotic tale starring two loving people whose world shattered when their son died. The story line showcases Jasmine Haynes' skills as her lead couple struggle with grief in their personal lives and an economic spy in their professional lives. Fans will root for the pair as each begins to emotionally heal to the point where they enjoy a ménage a trois.

Erotic Romance with a Heart 15 Jan 2013
By Lloyd Russell - The Book Sage - Published on
Format: Paperback
The Book Sage - [...]

So, a couple of weeks ago, I stopped in at Barnes & Noble in the Pruneyard. Right near the entrance were two female authors promoting their new books. The last time this happened, I ended up buying a fantasy for young (female) adults called Wyndham's Cloak - and loved it. I had pretty much made up my mind that any time I come across an author at B&N, I was going to buy, and read, their book. It's an easy way to try new authors.

I got to talking to them, gave them my Book Sage business card, and bought each of their new books. One author, Adina Senft, wrote a book about an Amish widow with two children. I have just started that one. The other author, Jasmine Haynes, writes in a genre that I had never heard of before, called Erotic Romance. I assumed that it meant cheesy romances with more explicit sex. Boy was I wrong. Yes, there is definitely explicit sex, but it's so much more than that. This is not a book with Fabio on the cover.

A husband and wife, both around 40, have had an unspeakable tragedy in their lives. A year later, they are still trying to cope with it. Erin has completely shut down emotionally. The way she handles it is to have sex with Dominic late at night (hence the title). There is no talking, no cuddling, just sex. It helps her forget for a short while. Dominic spends much of his time trying to get her to open up to him while still dealing with the tragedy himself. His way of doing it is by creating sexual situations that are designed to cater to Erin's fantasies. He doesn't know any other way of getting through to her. As the story progresses, and Erin and Dominic engage in sexual activities that most of us would never consider, you feel as if the situations make sense for them.

Here's what completely surprised me. I didn't expect the explicit sex to be between husband and wife, let alone a couple that is grieving and trying to come back from the abyss. This is a love story. This is about a husband who wants to get his wife back. The book is powerful. You root for them to figure out a way to reconnect. Along with the main theme of the book is a sub-plot regarding the high tech company they own and a possible leak among their employees. Even this part of the story resonates.

WARNING/SPOILER ALERT: If you can't read a book in which a young child dies or in which there is VERY explicit sex, then stay away. If you can deal with these issues (one is easier to deal with than the other!), then I highly recommend Past Midnight.

Sexual healing for a couple's grief--a highly erotic story 13 Mar 2013
By Wanna-be Author - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Dominic and Erin struggle to overcome their grief over the death of their child--she using sex to forget her pain, and he using sex to bridge the emotional gulf that has opened between them.
Dominic gradually induces Erin to play the role of a "Hot Wife," a role that she finds to be highly arousing. Sexual tension between husband and wife grows ever more intense as Erin becomes ever more daring in each erotic interaction with other men.
(The parallel plot about a possibly financially-damaging security leak among employees in their small business is far less interesting and somewhat of a distraction from this couple's very erotic sexual healing.)
Jasmine Haynes is a master of erotic plotting and description, and this couple's search for sexually adventurous healing can be an intriguing fantasy for both male and female readers.
