William Lashner is underrated in UK. His writing is well paced - there are intriguing twists and turns and plenty of humour. The lead character is somewhat flawed and doesn't always do well when confronted with the triple temptation of sex, money and power! William Lashner's books do feature some entertaining courtroom drama but offer a lot more besides. The Sheffield Library network stocks only one title (Veritas aka Bitter Truth). I requested they bought other titles but they refused instead offering to arrange an inter library loan for £3. So I carefully researched the price of buying each of his 7 other books. Comparing Abebooks, Amazon and Ebay, in all but one case Amazon marketplace was the cheapest, Abebooks scoring one cheapest. All the books arrived - mostly from USA and each one for less than an inter library loan. I mentioned William Lashner to a one of the librarians and he read Veritas and is now borrowing another title from me - spot the irony!

Yet another great Victor Carl roller-coaster ride, yet another
great adventure for the lovable old Philadelphia defence
attorney, yet another great read on my Greek holiday!

His latest client is lowlife Joey Cheaps, who winds up
dead before you find time to turn the opening pages, and
from that moment we sit back and enjoy the ride - and grin - NO,
I laughed out loud at the wonderful Lashner one-liners as they
came thick and fast.

Great page turner. Very funny in parts and gripping in others. Thoroughly entertaining. Great characters especially Victor Carl the 'hero' of the piece.

William Lashner is new to me and his style is certainly different. It is crime with humour. His storyline is good but becomes tangled amongst the presence of many other characters. I found some of the language difficult to understand but that is probably due to my age and lack of street-speak! Overall, an enjoyable read. I am sure I will continue to read him.
