Product Description

1950's, Leeds: Betty (Billie Piper) is a wife and mother, whose life is changed forever after falling hopelessly and dangerously in love with her charismatic Polish neighbour, Alex Crazenovski, better known as Craze . Against her principles, she soon abandons herself to a world of untapped thrills and passion, a world that has been so desperately missing from her own conventional and claustrophobic marriage. But 30 years later, an older Betty (Sue Johnston) comes to realise that her compulsive passion of the past and its consequences have created ripples that spill far into the future, finally reaching crisis point on her beloved son s wedding day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent drama 25 April 2010
By Blue hunter VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
This is a review of the show as shown on tv.Very good drama at its best and even though this isnt my usual kind of show i did enjoy it very much. The first half of it was well acted and pulled you into the story. The second half which is when Sue Johnston appears in it and plays the lead role is what really entertained me.Great acting as ever from the British legend who makes the charactor so watchable and at times funny but always with a serious side to it.Great drama and i would recommend this to anyone who likes there tv drama's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best British Film. Ever! 6 Sep 2012
By Jill P
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
When this two-part mini-series first appeared on our screens in 2010 I had no idea at the time that it would change my life forever!
I watched it on BBC iPlayer until it was no longer available, then I sat on the Amazon DVD pre-order list for many months before it finally arrived in February this year.
I'm now out of an unhappy marriage, back to the job I loved, embarking on a life-changing hobby that will see me travelling the world, financially secure and happy with my lot for the first time in years.
Back to being the passionate woman I always was!
All thanks to this!

I must say this really moved me, and I cannot recommend it enough. Billie Piper plays a young married Lady in Leeds who has an affair with a married Polish man. When the Polish man's wife finds out she shoots him dead, subsequently breaking Billie Piper's heart. Billie Piper remains married to her husband, but suffers from depression - which is made worse when her only grown up son announces that he is moving to Australia one he is married. Sue Johnstone plays the older Billie Piper, and on the day of her sons wedding recieves a visit from her lover's wife upon her release from prison.....Have your hankies ready at the end!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 2 Jan 2011
By Susanne
Format:DVD
I watched episode 1 last night when I found it amongst my old recorded programmes. I loved it, but unfortunately I didn't record episode 2, so now I'm dying to see what happened. Billy Piper was very very good, she is one very versatile actress. Beautifully done.
