I adore thais book. The projects are soooo useable, fun, funky, colourful and contemporary. I love the different techniques, from "raggy quilts" to the circle raggy quilts, the Yule time projects are so refreshing and yet eminently desirable for my home. I love the handbags and the washbags. I love the table runners and the cushions. In fact, there aren't really any projects which I don't love or think would be perfect in just about anyone's home. I rave about this book to anyone I meet, so it's high time I expounded its virtues on Amazon. If you only buy one quilting book, make it this one.
The only drawback, as mentionned by several reviewers, is that the directions are less than simple to follow for the newbie. It manages to pack nearly a project per page, and although this is wonderful to the experienced dress-maker or quilter, it is less than ideal for the beginner. I can't recommend enough that beginners try their hand at an easier, shop-bought, paper pattern before attempting the more interesting 3D bags, or convoluted patchwork patterns, just to give them a better grasp of 3D construction from 2D fabric and to get them thinking in terms of fabric construction, jargon and techniques. After a couple of paper patterns, I think most newbies would find this book a lot more approachable. It's head and shoulders above the rest. Buy it!
