Passion, Geri Halliwell’s third solo album since leaving the Spice Girls, proves the queen Spice has still got what it takes. Perhaps Geri's take on a concept album, Passion begins and ends with very traditional, big-band numbers--two smoky ballads where Geri sounds in good voice with no big, shouty chorus behind her as a safety net. The second single, "Desire", is a pretty good tune and the most contemporary here with its urban break and fuzzy synths, but the best bits of Passion sound like they came straight from 1998.
If the Spice Girls' final album had sounded more like this one's "Don’t Get Any Better" or "Superstar" (where Geri sings the campest line "Ooh, Baby, I want your hot action"), then they might have stayed together a bit longer. Ultimately, Passion contains upbeat, sing-a-long songs with a touch of soul and a cheesy dollop of tongue-in-cheek pop. There are moments where Geri tries to subdue her nostalgic "grrl power" as on "Feel the Fear" and "Let Me Love You More", which both go for Dido’s adult-pop listeners, but Geri’s at her best when she sticks with the prevailing out-and-out pop formula. --Georgina Collins

For someone most people claim to hate, Geri Halliwell has a history to be proud of. She is, after all, one of the UK's most successful female performers, with 13 #1s to her name. Admittedly she's not the world's best singer, but her bold and brassy routine had something thatoncemade us love her. That is until the disastrous sales of 2001's Scream If You Want To Go Faster. Will Passion, album #3, return her to a place to the heart of British culture?
The pop world of today is very different to the one in which Geriflourished at the end of the last century. Now the charts are filled with mediocre MORtypeslike Embrace, Coldplay & Athlete. Even S-Club and Steps seem a distant memory, but the Spice Girls - who were they?
Geri might have responded to this by going all moody and mysterious (though it's a little hard to imagine), but - to her credit - she's stuck to her roots and Passion has no aspirations to being a serious, sophisticated album. With tracks such as "Superstar" sporting the lyric 'Oooh baby, I love your hot action', we know exactly where she is coming from!
The album is book ended with two Musical numbers which souldlike Geri is doing a public audition to be the latest celebrity in Chicago. Fortunately the rest of the disc is full of more typical Geri fare, with camp dancefloor classics and ballads aplenty.
"Love Never Loved Me" is the standout fast track and expected 3rd single. If it were 2001, this would be number 1 without question.Now it'llprobably only be heard at the tackiest of discos. Surprisingly the best track is a ballad, the stunning "Let Me Love You More". Here we can really hear how much Geri's voice has improvedin the last 4 years.
But this is an album born out of its time, 5 years ago it would have been a sure-fire hit - now it'll be lucky if it goes top 30. Still, if the new Coldplay album bores you to death, this might just be the perfect antidote... --Talia Kraines

Geri will probably forever remembered as a member of Spice Girls but I think her first and third solo album will be remebered almost as well as the Spice Girls albums too...at least they should be. When I first I heard the songs "Ride It" and "Desire" I though that she will make an excellent album this time...and she did. There's some peaceful songs like "Passion", "There's Always Tomorrow", "So I Give Up on Love" and it is strange that "Passion" is also an opening track. However, when you begin to listen to this album again and again...you will found it as one of the best pop albums ever. There's also a little bit jazz in some songs. The lyrics are actually mostly about love, hope, and you-know-what...I don't think that the songs "Ride It" and "Desire" leave you without answer. There's some very good songs like "Love Never Loved Me" and "Feel the Fear" which are very beautiful songs. "Don't Get Any Better" and "Superstar" are defintely the songs with the positive attitude...taking the things as they are. Geri's voice is much more beautiful than in the earlier albums...or is it maybe her mood??? I found all the songs very good and definitely Geri's best. I found almost all the songs in this album even as good as "Calling", "Circles Round the Moon", "Mi Chico Latino", "Lift Me Up", and "Mi Chico Latino" in her earlier two albums. "Love Never Loved Me" is my favourite Geri Halliwell song ever!!! It has very good keyboards.

We had missed Ms. Halliwell there for a while, After Scream if you wanna go faster was released it seemed her sense of SchizoPhonic pop wasn't there. Well it is Back with Passion. This is a deep album for Geri, I think. Giving you a little bit of everything and really proving the critics wrong, Geri CAN sing! With tracks such as Feel the Fear ( song written about the Spice Girls)and Loving me back to life it shines! This album proves that her dance songs are still top notch with Love Never Loved Me, Desire and teh top 5 hit Ride It - Watch out Kylie is all I have to say. Passion def. proves that GEri can go any route in her career with the jazzy tracks of Passion and So I gave up on love but my favorite tracks are Super Star and Let Me love you More. Over All this album is one of Geri's Best Yet!

Well, I must start this review saying that I am fan of Geri and the Spices and I have to say that I have just bought Passion (a little late, I know). When I heard it for the first time I thought: ok, this is Geri and we are in 2006. Well, this music is totally old fashioned!!! I mean, this album could have been all a hit in the 90´s (whether she had released songs like Love never loved me or Passion). For example, I like Love never loved me, but doesn´t it sound like Steps or something? Anyway, I have the album and I have to say, if you´re not a Geri fan, don´t buy it, because she has done better before.
To finish, I´d like to say WELL DONE, GERI for PASSION (the song) and RIDE IT and LOVE NEVER LOVED ME, the best songs in the album.
