This book is probably the UKCAT book which offer the least practice out of all those available, with something like 100 questions on UKCAT, which is just above 50% of what the exam contains. Frankly, the authors have been lazy, not even considering giving as many questions as there would be at the exam. There are other books out there which offer 3 to 6 times that amount for roughly the same price.
In the verbal reasoning section there are serious flaws in the logic. many of the answers are wrong and also are based on a number of assumptions or external knowlegdge expected of the candidates, which is something specifically not allowed in the UKCAT.
The book also wastes a lot of time on the generalities of the application process, all of which is easily found on the websites for the various medical schools and other free info websites.
It is disappointing to see that it is merely a rehash of the previous years' editions, with no effort to add to the content, the same mistakes and inaccuracies. Overall, poor value for money. Probably the worth value for money out of all the UKCAT books on offer.

The problem I had with that book is that it attempts to deal with everything in a small space and so ends up leaving you disatisfied. Sure, it tells you a little about personal statements, but there are specialised books for medical personal statements which are much more comprehensive and helpful. Sure it tells you about UKCAT, but nowhere near as much as other specialised books. Same goes with BMAT - you might as well buy the official BMAT practice book. It is also worth noting that though this is a 2010 edition, the UKCAT information is not actually up-to-date.
So overall not a very helpful publication unless you really want the basics.

On the cover it says you can "pass first time" if you use the book. This is odd advice considering you can't fail these exams, perhaps a good reflection of how useful this book is.

I found this book well written and clear. The practice questions are useful for boosting confidence and the format is accessible and up-to-date. I would recommend it.
