Product Description

This book explains all there is to know about psychometric tests. It includes 35 different, genuine, practice tests from SHL Group plc, the world's biggest test publisher. It has 265 questions covering verbal, numerical, abstract and spatial reasoning, mechanical comprehension, fault diagnosis, acuteness and personality. This book gives you the information, confidence and practice to pass psychometric tests.

From the Author

I wrote Psychometric Tests for Graduate because I wanted to help graduates pass the psychometric tests all the big companies use these days to recruit staff. It’s not enough to have a good CV or even a stunning interview technique – you have to pass the tests if you want to get a great job.

There are loads of psychometric test books around, but I really wanted to provide a book full of GENUINE tests. Not what I call the ‘magazine variety’ but the real thing. In other words, graduate-level tests from SHL Group, the test publisher used by all the big companies.

I also wanted to help people once they’d got throught the initial screening tests and were faced with an assessment centre visit by giving them information, advice and practice with personality questionnaires, management tests and exercises.

This book is a follow up to my first (and very successful) psychometric test book, Passing Psychometric Tests. See my web site for more information, book reviews and reader comments. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The key to the book is in the title, 'Know what to expect...'. And that's about all you're gonna get! The tests are usually less than 5 minutes and some aren't even timed and some just say, 'do it as quick as you can'. As soon as you've finished a test, you find that the section on that particular topic is over and there's no room to really get in the swing of doing a 'test' as such.

I found the questions really easy and a little bit insulting at times especially when I timed myself for a 3minute test and finished in a minute. What I also found a bit inconsistent was the longer test which lasted for 14mins (the only long test in the book) this was a 'combination test' and though I could handle the 2-5mins tests very easily, this one was quite tough. When I finished it I realised how much I need to improve but...surprise, surprise... no more long tests of that kind!!

Though I was quite disappointed in the content, SOME of it was of use and I wouldn't complain that much if the book was free.

In short. The book is fine if you want an overview of psychometric test and some examples of '...what to expect...' but the bit about 'Passing Psychometic Testing' must be in a different volume because this book on its own isn't going help you.

An interesting book which is basically a collection of logic tests but it explains what the setter is looking for, it does not do them for you but explains the procedure if you interested in building these tests there are better books

3.0 out of 5 stars Great book but answer page makes no sense!, 2 Aug 2010
This book is great, very insightful and brilliant for practise however the answer sheet at the bottom of each page doesnt actually display the answers for the questions! I am very puzzled by this and have emailed the author! So if you want to practise without knowing if you are getting the answers right or wrong .... by this book!
