Biography

On most recent album Blood Like Lemonade, Paul & Ross Godfrey re-unite with Skye on vocals for the first time since 2002, restoring the original inimitable laidback charm that made Morcheeba the mainstay of many a chill-out session.

"One thing Morcheeba's always tried to do is make the record we don't already have in our record collection," explains Ross Godfrey, the trio's guitarist and all-round… Read more in Amazon's Morcheeba Store

Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Parts of the Process tracks the career of one of British music's least-sung success stories. When Morcheeba first emerged in 1996, they were bracketed with the trip-hoppers, very much in the slipstream of the Bristol crew represented by Massive Attack and Tricky. Yet their fortunes contrasted with those of most trip-hoppers: trip-hop is a supposedly languid, easy-grooving genre, but its major practitioners have proved surprisingly volatile, prone to internal feuds and catastrophic slumps or liable simply to evaporate altogether, like Portishead. Morcheeba, on the other hand, with a quiet stealth that is the mark of their music, managed to garner a significant worldwide following, even touring China.

Morcheeba are a trio featuring brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey (whose backgrounds were in prog-rock and deejaying) and vocalist Skye Edwards. Their music is a seemingly effortless blend of influences from soul to hippy and rock to pop. It's smooth and beguiling, dark and beige by turns--no more so than on "Trigger Hippie". Without missing a beat, they are also able to incorporate guest artists such as rapper Big Daddy Kane on "What's Your Name" and Lambchop's Kurt Wagner on "What New York Couples Fight About". This is a fine compilation, but it's a shame that it's missing the title track from their debut album Who Can You Trust. --David Stubbs

Morcheeba have always been one of those groups whose music I love but have never been aware that it was they who produced it. Until I bought this album that is. I am suddenly confronted with some brilliant trip hop (or insert your own genre here) tracks which I have heard many times before but never knew Morcheeba were behind them.

If you already own the albums they have produced before then you may not need to buy this.If you have been debating about buying a Morcheeba album then this is the one to get. Not always a massive fan of greatest hits outings this is definately one worth buying. What you get is an anthology of the Morcheeba songs over the past ten years and the distinctive style of music and how it has developed. A great album to chill to and even better in the sun and glass of wine/beer in hand.

Highlights of the album for me are Sea and World Looking in though as I have been subconciously in love with Morcheeba for a long time now the other tracks will gradually filter through!!

Having only heard of Morcheeba, I bought this just on recommendation - and I'm glad I did. I found I'd actually heard a lot of the songs without realising it (on adverts mostly), and now I know what they are! It's been great to chill out to and always puts me in a relaxed mood. A Great CD for parties, particularly.

This album is a must for anyone who appreciates good music. You will know more tracks on it then you think as this is 'a best of'with tracks from 1995-2003.Morcheeba have a unique sound and has a broad appeal.Skye the vocalist has a voice that goes through you and leaves you with a feeling of calm. This album will go with you in the car and you will want to bring it in to listen to it again. This album has now become a firm favorite in my collection and anyone I have played it to agrees with me.So let Morcheeba sing for you while you close your eyes and chill with them.
