From The Greatest Star, the most successful female recording artist of all time, and the only artist to have a number one album in five consecutive decades, comes her stunning new duets album "Partners."

Barbra Streisand is, without any doubt, a living legend, and she proves her status here in her new album, reinventing classic songs of hers along with new additions to her catalogue. But fans of Streisand shouldn't fear, these aren't the same old songs we've heard countless times before - new life has been breathed into these favourites, with a whole different meaning and sound - you'll be surprised at how new these songs sound. Whether an old fan whose loved Streisand for years, or someone interested in her - this is the album to get to know Barbra and fall in love with her for the first time - or be reminded why you fell in love with her in the first place.

This is an amazing album. I have been a Streisand fan for more years than I care to remember; but this album has blown me away. It took 2 years to make & was certainly worth it. Barbra's voice has got deeper & richer as time has gone by & on the new tracks it is magnificent. There is nothing on here that I do not like but my favourites are the track with Andrea Bocelli & Jason Gould, her son. Whenever I hear them they send shivers down my spine. Well done Barbra & thank you for the pleasure that this album has given me & all your fans worldwide.

This is not a perfect album. Perhaps it's because I know most of the original songs so well that it becomes jarring to hear them done differently. Not all the pairings work well either. But there are some absolute gems here, like the "I still can see your face" duet with Andrea Bocelli.

Other notable tracks are "It Had to be You" with Michael Buble and "Somewhere" with Josh Groban. The duets with John Mayer, her son Jason Gould and Billy Joel are well done too. It's the Babyface, Stevie Wonder and Lionel Ritchie tracks that leave me cold. Maybe I'd hoped for more with those incredible voices.

I'm giving it 4 stars because the album works well as a whole listening experience. You never get bored as there is plenty of variety and Barbra's voice is perfect. You can tell she had fun making the album and I love reading the notes on each track which is something Barbra often does, which makes buying the CD essential.

If it's not too much to ask, can we have a female partner version? Duets with Linda Eder, Edina Menzel, etc would be sublime.

First of all let me say I am a HUGE fan - have seen Barbra several times both in the US and here at great personal expense and own ALL her albums.

When I heard the concept of this album I must admit I had misgivings as I was not over impressed by Barbra's previous Duets album.

But nothing prepared me for this mediocrity. I actually feel insulted that she has gathered together a ragbag of male "partners" to rehash material that she has already done to death and more. If I want to hear her sing her classic songs then I can listen to them on any number of live, studio and compilations albums already - all of which are INFINITELY preferable to this cheesefest.

The male voices add NOTHING to the mix - most of the performances sound like they were phoned in from across the country while Barbra was out walking the dog. It is hard to believe she was ever in the same room with many of these people and her own vocals sound like they have been lifted and auto tuned from old tracks.

I am disappointed and angry - I found it hard to even get through one listen of this and it has gone straight to the bottom of the pile and removed from my iTunes playlist.

If you want to listen to Barbra buy any of the original albums from the beginning or middle of her amazing career - this is one to avoid.

As unorthodox as it may be for me to be writing about Barbra Streisand, well, here I go. A friend found it somewhat amusing burning me a copy of this the other day, demanding that I should give it a go. My initial thought was: "What the f**k, Chris Brown's new CD is out, and you're getting me this?". So, I thought it was equally fair - though quite challenging on my behalf - to give this a proper listen, just to aggravate my friend. After reluctantly playing the entire album once, 3 days later I am secretly enjoying this. In fact, spin after spin it gets better and better, Barbra's dominating voice is unmatched, nevermind that the material overall is too lacklustre for my liking. That opening duet with the velvety-voiced Michael Buble is wonderful, and the duets with Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli and Elvis, they are most enjoyable. Some of the songs are helplessly lukewarm and rather predictable, but I am guessing that, if I can appreciate some of this stuff, then dedicated fans will most probably love it. It is a great idea to introduce old songs to a younger audience (some would call this a relentless cashing in). Perhaps a "Partners" version with female duets could follow? With such a powerful throat at 72, she sure is able to keep recording for years to come. A living legend. Not my cup of tea, but I am certainly enjoying a few Barbra sips. Now, time to spin that Chris Brown CD...
