5.0 out of 5 stars Way Better than Gould 25 Jun 2011

It's too bad that the previous reviewer uses Glen Gould as the standard to measure Bach on the piano. When it comes to the Partitas, a much more accurate measure would be Angela Hewitt, Bernard Roberts, Vladimir Feltsman and the great Sviatoslav Richter. It is in that company that Freddy Kempf's recording belongs. Buy it and you will become a fan of this gifted pianist (try especially his Schumann recording). This is how Bach should sound on a piano: clear, lucid, poetic and without much pedal. This is almost as good as Koroliov's Bach playing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bach: Partitas Nos. 4 & 6 29 Nov 2010
By Bjorn Viberg - Published on Amazon.com
Bach: Partitas Nos. 4 & 6 is a recording being played by Freddy Kempf (piano) on this BIS Records AB recording from 2006. Gould has set the standard for how to play Bach and Kempf whilst being an accomplished piano player in his own right comes nowhere close. That being said this is a pleasant enough recording that I would recommend. The booklet is roughly 20 pages long and contains liner-notes by Jean-Paul Vachon (translated into English by Andrew Barnett). Recommended. 4/5.
