Utterly fabulous. I am so cross with myself for missing Mr B's date in Cardiff earlier this year, and so consoled myself with a copy of the Audio version of Part Troll. Have I regretted this decision? Oh, most definitely not. Though people sharing public transport with me might have a few words on the subject.
Pretty much everything gets an airing here, from Scouse hobbits to self-immolating facial hair (and you'll have to buy the CD if you want that statement to make sense). The stand-up by itself if great, but Bill really excels once he gets his mitts on a musical instrument, and there's plenty of keyboard/guitar action to savour here - sometimes both at the same time! The ballad which wraps up the first half hilarious - Bill's all-time-favourite-musical-performer is represented handsomely and hilariously, while the final encore (in German, no less) is well worth waiting for.
There are a couple of occasions when there's something visual happening, and you are left guessing what's going on, but these are both short and widely spaced apart. The recording certainly doesn't suffer for a lack of visuals.
All in all, a great buy, though it's probably best to listen to it in private for the first time, unless you enjoy having people stare at you while you giggle helplessly to yourself...

I have been to see Mr B twice now, once with friends and once with my girlfriend. It doesnt matter that I have seen him twice, he was still funny and the two shows slightly differed. Whats more when I received my cd, much to my surprise there were bits that were different to the shows that I had seen live. Bill Bailey takes you on a ride of surealism, with music, jokes, and group audience participation (obviously not on the cd unless you wish to join in at home).
This is indeed a must for all fellow Bailey fans.

This is pretty much the pinnacle of Bailey's stand-up, mature but still fresh - and pants-wettingly funny. A couple of years ago I was stuck in a monstrous traffic jam on the M25 with the missus and my two teenage kids. Part Troll was in the car so I slipped it into the CD Player. All of a sudden it didn't matter that we were trapped in our vehicle in an endless queue of stationary traffic with no idea of when we were going to get home. In the cars all around us people were sweating, shouting, banging their steering wheels, dehydrating and generally having a miserable time, but we were in a little coccoon of joy, weeping with mirth, oblivious to the solid river of human misery all around us. People looking on may have feared that we had lost our sanity, but no. We were simply having a really great time. Finally, just as the second CD was coming to its rapturous conclusion, the traffic ahead started to move again and we were on our way, relaxed, smiling and thoroughly untroubled by the delay.

Since then, I've always kept a few comedy albums in the car for traffic jam relief, but nothing has ever quite done the job like that magical two hours sitting on the M25 with Part Troll. Thanks for that, Bill.

Part Troll is the funniest of all of BB's DVD's and, regretably, funnier than the actual live show ( Tinselworm - Cardiff 2008). None of the other DVD's pre or post Part Troll have any where near the level of observational humour and orginality. BB's comedic timing is near perfect on a range of sketches from the book of dreams to the axis of evil. Part Troll also exposes BB's muscial talent more prominently than other shows recorded or otherwise. Buy this, and probably only this, DVD to enjoy BB.
