This is a fascinating insight into how in particular Rev George Arbuthnot influenced life in the town of Stratford at the turn of the century. I was surprised at how important the church was at supporting the needy when no NHS existed. From the size of the Sunday school outings, to the removal of the private pews - this is an insight into life around the church at that time. It will appeal to students of this period or anyone who is interested in Stratford's history.
