Flower Power - Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Bluetooth Smart Plant Sensor with Free dedicated App - Green (Electronics)
What a great invention is the Parrot Flower Power. It is slightly expensive, but can be used with all of your plants at different times. For anyone who thinks they do not have a green thumb, this is the product for them.

I have an Oxalis plant, a maroon, four leaf clover type if plant, that I just love. It is beautiful and grows quite well. The leaves will fold up at night or if it is stressed. It needs enough water to keep it moist, but not too wet. I keep it on a table near a large window. It gets shaded sun, which is what I think it needs. I put it on my deck one summer and it shriveled, so that must have been too hot. The plant is doing well, but I have not been able to get it to grow flowers. With the help of the Parrot Flower Power, I hope at flowering time to have success.

Insert the Parrot Flower Power into your plant. I downloaded the Flower Power App on my Smartphone. The application then connected to my Flower Power to the Parrot Cloud Wi-Fi, where the data is analyzed. After the data is analyzed, I received an alert that told me I needed more water, and light.

When you are near your Flower Power, you can use Live mode to check the light intensity, ambient temperature, and soil humidity. Every 15 minutes Flower Power measures four data sources and stores the data in its memory. Every two hours Flower Power sends data to your Smartphone via Bluetooth Low Energy. If you are not within Bluetooth range, it keeps the data in its memory until you are back within range (data kept for up to 80 days). Alerts are sent to your Smartphone each time one of your plants needs attention.

Geeky fascination in the info it sends to your phone, would be better if it didn't take a whole day to update ie if it took less time to analyse the light, soil moisture, fertiliser status & temperature every time you move the probe to a different plant

Purchased this product as they had come down in price substantially since the launch date. This device is a small sensor that you can either use indoors or outdoors. It looks nice and blends into the plant excellently, very unobtrusive. It comes with a AAA battery which apparently gives 8 months of use. Firstly you have to put the sensor into the soil near the plant you wish to monitor. Then you download the free app from the relevent app store and sync it with your sensor - very easy to do. Next you have to select what plant it is you wish the sensor to monitor. This is where it gets a little difficult.... if you have thrown away the labels from your plants and have no idea what they are called then you will have problems! However if you log onto the parot flower power web site you can search for plants much easier than you can do in the app, by selecting filters according to the shape and colour of your plant etc. It took me about an hour to find the plant i wished to monitor - only problem then is that there are littrally hundreds of sub-breeds of the plant you have selected! I just went for the plant that looked the most similar to mine. Once you have told the app what plant you wish to monitor it then advises you to check back in 24hrs to see its anaylasis. However within 15mins the sensor was already reporting on the sunlight, water moisture and temprature of the soil - this was good.Read more ›

I am using my Parrot Flower for a month now. I am very satisfied with the accuracy of the monitoring process and the responsiveness to any action taken (based on the monitoring and warning process).
The design is also quite beautiful and blends well with the environment. I consider the battery life so far as good-very good (but i am using it only for a month).
The flower database in the software has a wide variety of flowers and plants and the ability to be updated by the user.

A couple of disadvantages are: a) the bluetooth connection that it uses to send me the monitoring reports, means that I (or my phone) has to be close to the Parrot in order to receive the reports. That means no reporting over wifi, so no monitoring while you are away on vacation or short business trips. b) if you have an area with multiple plants, you will need multiple devices to monitor them since you specialize reports in one plant/tree/flower per device (it certainly could have reports per family of plants/trees/flowers per device).

Having had several failed attempts to grow a Venus Fly Trap I decided to get the Parrot Flower Power to advise me on what I've been doing wrong.
It failed miserably and in 1 week and my plant died of sun burn!

I got in touch with the support desk who relayed messages between me and the development team. The answer I got was... "The temperature and light alerts are sent after a specific average of data. A 40° heat for 10 minutes during the day wouldn't average enough to send an alert. Especially when any data is offset by 10 minutes where it may now be cooler."

I replied saying that "If the device records temperatures exceeding the limits for several hours then there is still an issue somewhere." I gave them an exact example of where my plant had been subjected to a temperature of above 35° for over 5 hours!

The development team finally acknowledged my point and said they would look into future improvements.
***Currently the software analyses 7 days of data and only then sends an alert. If an intermittent event occurs no alert is sent.***

They said that I should keep an eye on the software updates release notes for any news.
