Product Description

She was sexy, smart...and not for sale.  But that won't stop him.

When Parker Quinn is forced to accept an outrageously high bid at a charity auction, she has no choice but to go out with the last man on earth she wants to spend time with. Dean Maxwell may be one of Manhattan's most eligible bachelors, but he's also the man who had an affair with her sister and abandoned her when she became pregnant with his child...

Dean doesn't know why Parker hates him so much, but he's determined to show Parker the type of man he really is. Whisking her away to a private island in the Bahamas for a sensual, sun-drenched week together, Dean leaves Parker's preconceptions shattered and her desires inflamed.

But even as their passion reaches irresistible heights, Parker has a decision to make. Can she allow herself to fall for the seductive magnate, or will family secrets and a dangerous ex tear them apart?

WARNING: Contains graphic language and explicit sex scenes.

LENGTH: Novel (50,600 words)

EXCERPT

Outside, the air was nippy and Parker pulled the wrap more tightly about her. It was thin, but it was silk so it was warmer than it looked. Still, she couldn't suppress a shiver. A large tuxedo jacket settled over her shoulders, dwarfing her. However, it still retained its owner's warmth, so Parker didn't complain.

"Think you're up to walking two blocks?" he asked, standing close to her so he could be heard over the constant noise of traffic and people.

"I live further away from here than two blocks."

"I want to stop by The Four Seasons."

She went still as warmth spread through her body. She swallowed, tipped her head back so she could eye him warily and said, "You said you'd take me home."

A small smile played around his mouth, like he knew exactly what her thoughts had been.

"The restaurant. I will take you home after you get something to eat. I watched you all through dinner. You had maybe one canapé."

"I had something before I came."

"And that meal is called lunch. Or was it breakfast?"

He was right, but she wasn't going to let him know that. And now that her duties were completed, she was feeling a little hungry.

She nodded at the hotel they'd just exited. "Why don't we go back inside?"

He lifted a brow. "The restaurants inside will be crawling with people who attended the auction. I thought you'd want to get away from that crowd."

She sighed, suddenly exhausted. "I just want to go home and forget I met you."

Nice little story 15 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed this. It's billed as erotic but it isn't in your face. In fact I got nearly half way through before there was any sort of steaminess. I loved the slow burn of Parker and Dean's relationship, and I was amused to note the use of safe sex. Again I liked the fact that it was a proper story and built up to the steamy scenes, you weren't just thrown into them right away. I also liked the fact that there was a psycho ex-lover side story running in the background, it made it all tie together very nicely.

I received a complimetary copy of this book in order to review it.

Passionate and pleasing! 22 July 2010
By AnnFes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This is more like it!! A real romance with realistic, touching characters who love, doubt and fear. This is why I read romance.

Parker Quinn is a dedicated career woman, editor for a famous fashion magazine and when the book begins, she is hosting a charity auction. It's not the usual auction, though, but the kind where the rich and famous bid for dates with other rich and famous people. Parker is trying to avoid a 'scene' with her former lover Tyler Moore. Watching this uncomfortable scene is Dean Maxwell, self-made billionaire and man about town, brilliant and devastatingly handsome, Parker is attracted to him until she hears his name--then she runs from him like a fox from the hounds.

It seems that Dean has a reputation, one that Parker is sadly familiar with, and she wants no part of him. But he is convinced that this serious, self-effacing woman is someone special and he won't give up until he wins her heart.

You cannot help but feel along with these characters. They are flawed and affable. Dean is the consummate romantic hero, smart, smooth yet understanding and with a heart. He pursues Parker because she is not only physically attractive but he is charmed by her intelligence and vulnerability. He is not an alpha-male but male enough. Parker had realistic aura inasmuch as her confidence is smudged with a little self doubt.

Of course there is some suspense and a pleasing HEA ending and it's very sexy and sensual without being anatomical but these factors a're secondary the the story, the journey that these characters take to find love. That's the purpose, after all of a good romantic story.

Parker's Price 5 Oct 2010
By M. Nix - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Parker Quinn is participating in a charity auction and her highest bidder is Dean Maxwell. Parker instantly knows who Dean is and she refuses to be nice - after all, he is the man responsible for using and discarding her sister.

Dean isn't used to being turned down by the fairer sex and Parker's refusal to be cooperative about their date stumps him. It isn't until he is confronted by what Parker believes he did that Dean understands what is happening. Dean decides that Parker is not going to run from him, but the question is, how can he get her to love him?

Parker is a bit unlikeable. At least to me. She is dead set on believing the worst of Dean. But that didn't stop her from being with him. Dean is a nice guy. I instantly liked his wit and underlying sexuality. He is a hottie, that's for sure.

Parker's Price evolves. First, the plot is original and likeable. Second, both characters change - Parker more than Dean. Lastly, after much soul searching, Parker admits her love for Dean. It took her long enough, in my opinion.

While Parker and all of her hang-ups made me bonkers, Parker's Price in its totality is actually a very good contemporary romance with lots of spice. Perseverance definitely pays off!

scintillating sex, passion and a strong and absorbing plot 7 July 2010
By LAS Reviewer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Originally posted at: [...]

Love and hate are reputedly two sides of the same coin. And when Parker meets her bête noire the coin flips before she has time to stop drooling over the hunkiest alpha male she's ever met.

Dean Maxell is not a man to let a little `hatred' get in the way of winning the love of the woman who's stolen his heart. But he and Parker soon discover that the path to enduring love is strewn with treachery, deceit, family secrets, and the need to face their own vulnerabilities. The darkness of the past must be explored to find out why so many people are suddenly interested in their relationship.

Parker, for one, doesn't know where to turn. Always having been there for others, it doesn't immediately occur to her that she can turn to Dean.

Ms. Bruce is an incredibly talented author who weaves her complex plots and conflicts with apparent ease and smoothness that ensures you keep turning the page. The writing is strong, the characters well-developed and the storyline fascinating.

If you like your books to include scintillating sex, passion and a strong and absorbing plot, then this book is a must read for you.
