after a million dollar robbery at 'Ohio State Fair' the five
crooks have a difference of opinion regarding a future heist,
during which 'Parker' is left for dead in a ditch.
You just know he's going to get even.
perhaps they should have checked his pulse before driving away.
'J-LO' ( plays 'Leslie' who works in real estate showing people
around expensive properties in 'Palm Beach ) sizzles as an unlikely
partner for 'Parker' joining him to track down the gang and pre-empt
the gangs heist target.
an explosive partnership to say the least.
must admit I've enjoyed many of 'Jason Statham's' films I've watched,
he rarely fails to deliver.
this movie has plenty of gritty action throughout.....well worth a
spin.

I wanted to give this film 3 and a half stars but I though it deserved a round up rather than a round down. Jason Statham stars as Parker a master thief with "Principles". After watching the film what this means is do not cross him and you will be fine. After pulling off a difficult heist and impressing; his current crew asks him to join them on their next venture. When he refuses they try to kill him, emphasis on try, he takes at least 3 bullets but still survives.

Now it is payback time. The trouble is the gang is very well connected to a top gangster in Chicago. Of course this means nothing to Parker, but it could be trouble for him friends and family, luckily they are not new to this and can take care of themselves. While gathering information on his old friends Parker comes across Jlo, a down on her luck real-estate agent with nothing to lose. She knows Parker is up to something but she wants in.

Even though it is based on a novel Statham plays Parker in the same style he would the Transporter. The template for his tough guys he tends to play. This is a good film, nothing ground breaking but it kept my interest; it is more blood and guts than big explosions. A good film to watch if nothing else is on. In fairness this is one of Statham's better films since the Transporter he sticks to what he is good at nothing wrong with that.

Jason Statham stars as Parker, a thief who lives by a code of living up to your end of the deal, even some thieves have morals. After the heist at the beginning of the film, Parker is double crossed by his well connected colleagues, led by the unscrupulous Melander (Chiklis). Left for dead, Parker set's out to live by his code & teach these double crossers what it means to stand by your word & part of a deal. No matter how high up the chain of command you are. It's gonna be bloody!

Overall, Parker is a decent revenge crime thriller, that's main story keeps your attention well enough, along with some action & thrills paced through it. The only main downsides really are about the length of the movie, which is just under 2 hours & it does feel as though it's dragging in places. Bringing it closer to 90 minutes would had been ideal IMO. And the other with it being somewhat predictable in places.

Statham put's on a solid acting performance, as he takes one helluva beating through this movie, and manages to dish out some as well, in some good fight scenes & tense stand off's. Blood flying everywhere & some home body repairs, certainly not for the squeamish. Up against a good, convincing & menacing Chicago wise guy-esque villain in Michael Chiklis (The Shield), it's easy to root for anti-hero Statham's cause. Emma Booth (The Boys Are Back) as Statham's love interest make for a plausible pair, as does the introduction of hottie Jennifer Lopez (

Jason Statham plays Parker, a thief and sometimes killer with his own set of ethics. After he is double crossed and left for dead, he decides to go after the clowns that did him wrong. But ZOIKS! The really bad guys have major Chicago gangster connections. He is advised against the action by his silent partner Nick Nolte, whose daughter (Emma Booth) Jason has a relationship.

On the trail of the bad guys, Parker uses Leslie (Jennifer Lopez) a down on her luck, cut throat, high end real estate agent, who also likes to play amateur detective. Parker is resilient as bullets, knives, jumping out of a moving vehicle, and broken ribs only slows him down a step. Classic Statham "performance" for better or worse.

I don't need to mention the no surprise ending. It's a Statham film. The fun part is the tough guy getting us there.

Parental guide: occasional F-bomb. No sex or nudity. Jennifer Lopez bra/panties. Jason and Emma in shower together with discreet camera angels and arm placement.

Parker is a standard very basic Jason Statham film. While the action and the cast keep you watching the plot isn't anything you haven't seen a million times before as crook Parker who lives by a strict code, he only steals from rich people that can afford it and noone that doesn't deserve it gets hurt is double crossed, shot and left for dead by the rest of his gang after a robbery, Parker somehow survives and goes after the rest of the gang looking for revenge. If the plot seems fammiliar well the character has been played before by Lee Marvin in Point Blank and Mel Gibson in Payback and while this is meant to be a kind of sequel it feels more like a remake as the plot seems identical. The action is good and Statham does what he does best in the lead with an interesting supporting cast including Michael Chiklis as the leader of Parker's double crossing gang and Jennifer Lopez giving her best performance since Out Of Sight as a woman that helps him and Nick Nolte as an old retired crook. It's hard to sympathize with Parker he seems just as bad as the rest of the gang which was the case in Point Blank and Payback as well but film should satsify Statham fans.
