Product Description

The very closest of shaves with big savings. The Parker Model 22 or ‘The Interceptor’ is a twist to Open razor for ease of blade change. The razor is 10.5 cm in length weighing in at 79g and has a rugged well defined grip pattern on handle and gun metal finish which gives this razor a distinctive almost militaristic look. Blade changing is simplicity itself, to put a new blade in just twist the handle which will open the razor head, pop out the old blade, insert the new, then twist in the opposite direction to hold the blade firmly in place. The razor is compatible with all standard replacement double edge safety razor blades and don’t forget the major cost benefits of buying safety razor blades versus expensive multi-blade cartridges. This razor will pay for itself. Safety razors sometimes known as Double Edge razors have staged a major comeback as men everywhere go back to basics to find a more satisfying shave. Combine this razor with a decent blade, shaving brush and shaving cream and you will turn a morning chore into a luxurious activity you will look forward to.

I decided to get back into DE shaving after losing patience (and blood) with cheap white or blue plastic throwaways. And I've never even considered buying multi-blades as I can't afford them.

I've tried the Parker for a few times now, with a new Derby blade, and it's super-soft on the skin, does the job, and not a single cut. (I can't see why people talk about cutting themselves with safety razors. I'm not particularly careful when shaving. Maybe they are pressing too hard - not the best technique.)

It's slightly less well finished than I expected - but it's the bits you don't look at such as the top-sides and the base of the longish handle, so not really a deal-breaker.

As a comparison, I also got my hands on a new, short-handled Merkur Gillette facsimile with a Merkur blade. Merkurs have a fantastic reputation, but, for me, was very scratchy. Although, again, no cuts. The Merkur has a short handle. I think I feel comfier with something longer and slightly heavier, like this Parker.

I personally like the shiny gunmetal, but they do straight silver, too. And the gunmetal variant was at a better, bargain price. I also like the modern styling/handle - the gunmetal opening head section reminds me for some reason of the jaws of Geiger's Alien design. (Alien the movie.) TIP - this razor shines up a treat in the dishwasher!

The razor will arrive cello-wrapped but not sealed inside a very lightweight (but printed) cardboard box, so you'll probably need a leather or plastic case of some kind.

The quick-change butterfly / twist-to-open Parker mechanism is easier (and safer) for me than the 3-part Merkur, not that saving 15 seconds is worth worrying about too much. But saving half a finger is possibly worth doing.

This is my upgrade from a cheap wilkinson sword double edge razor. I found the wilkinson sword so much better than a cartridge system but this parker razor is fantastic. Nicely weighted and delivers a smooth, clean shave.

I'm sure the 'razor elite' club out there have a problem with this razor but I think for £14 you can't go wrong. It is very stylish, easy to grip and simple to change the blade. I'm glad I got this one over other models.

The Parker 22R gets a mix set of reviews if you look around online. Many hate it for its build quality and mild cutting action.

As the owner of an Edwin Jagger 89L and a Merkur Futur I have to agree with the comments about build quality; but this razor is a third of the price of the Merkur.

With regards to the aggressive of the head, yes it is mild. For me that is a big positive. I use Derby blades in it and find I get a comfortable shave with 2 passes - one WTG (with the growth) and one XTG (across the growth). I also manage 14 shaves out of each blade.

Overall I am happy with this razor and service from Amazon when buying it.

Razors are a very personal choice so do not be put off by comments saying its cheap, so dont buy. Give it a go. I for one was pleasantly surprised. Its my current daily razor.

I've just gone back to the safety razor and went for the Parker because of the screw top. It works ok, but I find that the screw loosens off too easily. It's well balanced and I can get a good grip on the notched handle.

just the right weight, only slight fault would be, that the razor can try to open, as you are using it, but ok

very nice looking razor very stylish, one problem though is that the doors on the tto mechanism don't meet flush up. But this does not seem to effect the quality of the shave.

Better than those expensive multi blade razors. A very close shave is what you obtain with the double edge tazor.

I am pretty happy with my choice of stepping back and getting back to these kind of razors.
I used to use these kind of razors about 10-12 years back, then some how attracted to 2 blade, 3 blade and spent a lot of money on them. This razor does the same job with same efficiency compared to any other big brands..
