Product Description

PARKER a slick, fast-paced, action-packed crime thriller starring Jason Statham (The Expendables 2, Safe), Jennifer Lopez (The Back-up Plan, Out of Sight) and Nick Nolte (Gangster Squad), is directed by the Oscar®-winning filmmaker Taylor Hackford (Ray) and based on the best-selling Parker novel Flash Fire by Richard Stark. Parker (Statham), is a hardened professional criminal who will do whatever it takes to get what he wants, living by his own code of ethics - don t steal from people who can t afford it and don t hurt people who don t deserve it. But when he s double-crossed by his crew and left for dead, it s time for payback. Assuming a disguise and forming an unlikely alliance with a sexy local Palm Beach resident (Lopez), he tracks down the gang, aiming to take everyone out and hijack the score of their latest heist.

From Amazon.co.uk

The great crime novelist Donald E. Westlake was so prolific that he required several pen names to attach to books that covered all the writing styles at his command. Much loved by many was Richard Stark, Westlake's moniker for the author who wrote about a deliciously enigmatic professional thief named Parker. Parker has shown up in several movie adaptations, but Parker is the first to identify him with that name. Even though hulking bulldog Jason Statham plays him with the brute force and inelegant craft that has made the actor such a predictable action hero, Parker neatly captures the essence of the man that Westlake/Stark painted on the page. Parker is ostensibly based on the Parker novel Flashfire, though its plot is essentially the same kind of revenge tale all the other Parker character movies have been. After a well-planned heist (a terrific sequence staged at the Ohio State Fair), Parker's cohorts double-cross him and leave him for dead. But he recovers like the superhuman criminal hero he is and goes on a laser-focused quest to get back his share of the score--nothing more, nothing less. If it so happens that he kills a bunch of worse bad guys and ends up with far more than was owed him along the way, well, Parker won't complain. Veteran director Taylor Hackford more than carries the weight for both Parker and Statham, crafting set pieces and entertaining crime fantasies right up to the inevitable happy ending for our felonious yet principled protagonist. Parker makes his way from Ohio to New Orleans to Palm Beach, among other places, in tracking down the gang that jacked him. Each setting has a distinct sense of place, and we root for Parker in exactly the right way to show that bad guys can often be good even when they're doing terrible things. The Palm Beach third act is first rate, not least because of Jennifer Lopez, who plays a lonely real-estate agent who haplessly teams with Parker for some less than predictable shenanigans. Lopez seems to be hoping for the same kind of impact she made in Steven Soderbergh's terrific Elmore Leonard adaptation Out of Sight way back in 1998. Though Parker is not nearly as great a movie, Lopez truly shines. The same goes for an interesting and committed supporting cast that includes Michael Chiklis, Wendell Pierce, Patti LuPone, Bobby Cannavale, and a thoroughly ravaged-looking Nick Nolte. Lots of movies have made heroes out of criminals--yay! the bad guy wins!--and Parker makes a fine entry to the world of violent, fun fantasies in which crooks come out on top. Statham's line featured in the Parker trailer pretty much describes his ethos as well as the movie's slick take on crime-does-pay: "I don't steal from people who can't afford it, and I don't hurt people who don't deserve it." Would that all Hollywood action movies could carry the same credo. --Ted Fry

Jason Statham stars as Parker, a thief who lives by a code of living up to your end of the deal, even some thieves have morals. After the heist at the beginning of the film, Parker is double crossed by his well connected colleagues, led by the unscrupulous Melander (Chiklis). Left for dead, Parker set's out to live by his code & teach these double crossers what it means to stand by your word & part of a deal. No matter how high up the chain of command you are. It's gonna be bloody!

Overall, Parker is a decent revenge crime thriller, that's main story keeps your attention well enough, along with some action & thrills paced through it. The only main downsides really are about the length of the movie, which is just under 2 hours & it does feel as though it's dragging in places. Bringing it closer to 90 minutes would had been ideal IMO. And the other with it being somewhat predictable in places.

Statham put's on a solid acting performance, as he takes one helluva beating through this movie, and manages to dish out some as well, in some good fight scenes & tense stand off's. Blood flying everywhere & some home body repairs, certainly not for the squeamish. Up against a good, convincing & menacing Chicago wise guy-esque villain in Michael Chiklis (The Shield), it's easy to root for anti-hero Statham's cause. Emma Booth (The Boys Are Back) as Statham's love interest make for a plausible pair, as does the introduction of hottie Jennifer Lopez (

after a million dollar robbery at 'Ohio State Fair' the five
crooks have a difference of opinion regarding a future heist,
during which 'Parker' is left for dead in a ditch.
You just know he's going to get even.
perhaps they should have checked his pulse before driving away.
'J-LO' ( plays 'Leslie' who works in real estate showing people
around expensive properties in 'Palm Beach ) sizzles as an unlikely
partner for 'Parker' joining him to track down the gang and pre-empt
the gangs heist target.
an explosive partnership to say the least.
must admit I've enjoyed many of 'Jason Statham's' films I've watched,
he rarely fails to deliver.
this movie has plenty of gritty action throughout.....well worth a
spin.

I wanted to give this film 3 and a half stars but I though it deserved a round up rather than a round down. Jason Statham stars as Parker a master thief with "Principles". After watching the film what this means is do not cross him and you will be fine. After pulling off a difficult heist and impressing; his current crew asks him to join them on their next venture. When he refuses they try to kill him, emphasis on try, he takes at least 3 bullets but still survives.

Now it is payback time. The trouble is the gang is very well connected to a top gangster in Chicago. Of course this means nothing to Parker, but it could be trouble for him friends and family, luckily they are not new to this and can take care of themselves. While gathering information on his old friends Parker comes across Jlo, a down on her luck real-estate agent with nothing to lose. She knows Parker is up to something but she wants in.

Even though it is based on a novel Statham plays Parker in the same style he would the Transporter. The template for his tough guys he tends to play. This is a good film, nothing ground breaking but it kept my interest; it is more blood and guts than big explosions. A good film to watch if nothing else is on. In fairness this is one of Statham's better films since the Transporter he sticks to what he is good at nothing wrong with that.

If you've seen Mel Gibson's Payback you've seen this. Once again, Statham struggles to be likable in an arnie way and the film is way too long. Jenifer Lopez is a good premise and the film has occasional decent action scenes, but its very forgettable.
One of the extras is a making of which makes the film look a lot better than it is-obviously.

If you are a Jason Statham fan you will no doubt enjoy this film, sadly we aren't and we didn't.
Usual gangster fallout action film where miraculously our hero survives numerous fatal incidents yet his opponents fall by the wayside. Dull Dull Dull.

This maybe just anotherJason Statham movie and as such it has no other aim but to entertain the viewer. I think "Parker" reaches its goal very well. Now I am Jason's fan and that helps in this case. I own almost all of his movies and I like them. And I love the place this movie's set - Miami and the Sunny State, and the beautiful colours that accompany the action. Now many action movies are shot at night or in dark places and here is one that's really very nice for the eyes. With that, I mean it is a pleasure to watch this movie. I do recommend this movie with all my heart.

Jason Statham plays Parker, a thief and sometimes killer with his own set of ethics. After he is double crossed and left for dead, he decides to go after the clowns that did him wrong. But ZOIKS! The really bad guys have major Chicago gangster connections. He is advised against the action by his silent partner Nick Nolte, whose daughter (Emma Booth) Jason has a relationship.

On the trail of the bad guys, Parker uses Leslie (Jennifer Lopez) a down on her luck, cut throat, high end real estate agent, who also likes to play amateur detective. Parker is resilient as bullets, knives, jumping out of a moving vehicle, and broken ribs only slows him down a step. Classic Statham "performance" for better or worse.

I don't need to mention the no surprise ending. It's a Statham film. The fun part is the tough guy getting us there.

Parental guide: occasional F-bomb. No sex or nudity. Jennifer Lopez bra/panties. Jason and Emma in shower together with discreet camera angels and arm placement.
