The Best DE Razor Ever!

This is the best DE safety razor I have ever used! I have tried Merkur, Gilettes, and other models of Parkers, including the 14r. It is perfectly balanced, fits well in the hand with the 4 inch handle, and really is the smoothest shave I have had since I was last shaved in a barbershop with a straight edge. Coupled with Col. Conk's Almond scented shave soap, and finished with Pinaud Clubman After Shave Lotion, the 11r shave is invigorating. I have absolutely no reservations about recommending this outstanding product with its superior craftsmanship to everyone! It is the best way to begin the day!!!

It's all about the style

I switched to wet shaving about 6 months ago simply for the style of it all. Surprisingly, the single blade shavers actually gave me a closer shave than my old Gillette Fusion 5 blade. Bonus! My first razor was the Merkur Model 178 Classic Safety Razor, Straight GREAT razor, but a short handle... and not so big on "style" points. I still love it and bought a leather case for it recently to be used as my travel razor now.
Anyway, back to the point, this Parker razor is simply beautiful to look at and truly perfectly balanced. The blade balances if you place it on your finger at the narrow portion of the horn. The feel in the hand is much better than the metal handled ones as the horn feels warmer to the touch. The longer handle is also much more comfortable and gave me a lot more control than the smaller metal handle of the Merkur.
The short of it is... YES it is pretty pricey, but well worth every dime. Besides... with all the $$$ you'll save in razor blades and shaving cream, it sort of pays for itself. (At least that's what I told my wife).
Stop procrastinating and buy it already.

Very expensive but well balanced and gives a nice shave

I've been using this razor for a few weeks now and it gives me a good shave. It is well balanced and weighted and I adjusted to using it quickly. I would say it is five stars if not for two points: one is it is extremely expensive and even though it should last for many years it's still pretty pricey. The other consideration is that the color is much lighter than the picture shown on the amazon page. I know it's handcrafted from horn so perhaps each one is a bit different but I was expecting a much darker color: the one I received is a pale flesh/beige color.
