5.0 out of 5 stars Best crank tool on the market 26 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase
I recently bought a new crank and bottom bracket and needed a tool to install them. The fitted perfectly and impossible to slip using it.
Very well made although quite pricey for what it actually is.
I would definitely recommend this tool for anyone installing a hollowtech 2 bottom bracket.

5.0 out of 5 stars 16 Notch External BB tool 13 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase
This is designed for installation or removal of 16 notch external bearings and is an excellent tool that is made to last. I used this to get a BB out of a friends frame that had seized in, no grease on the thread???, with the aid of a club hammer as a smaller one would not budge it; this left no real signs of damage to the tool which surprised me as I was welting it. The little plastic tool for the crank arm compression cap is removable but does spin freely on the arm so you can use it in its place, as it only needs between 4-6 in-lb of pressure to tighten it you don’t need to rip it up. The lever arm is 8” (215mm) long so there is enough length to tighten things up, depending on rider weight or power production you may need to tighten it a bit more. The overall tool length is 11” (280mm) with the head width being 3” (77mm).

Excellent, does the job faultlessly, can't think of anything exciting to say but as spanners go it is well made, easy to use and feels like quality.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works but 30 Sep 2013

Whoever tightened up my BB was super strong as I had to jump on the bar on this to loosen it off. So I would suggest then lengthen the arm a little for greater leverage.
