I visit Paris regularly and so I feel I know the city pretty well, however this brilliant book has pointed me to many places I had previously missed. That is wonderful, because that is exactly what I bought it for! I particularly like the "neglected museums" listings and also the "interesting shops" recommendations. It is helpfully divided by area and includes hotels, bars, restaurants and cafes as well as principle sights and a very informative description of each area of the city. Once you have visited the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Sacre Coeur etc, this is the book you need to start really discovering Paris! You just need to be aware that in Paris, as in every other city in Europe, cafes and restaurants etc do close down for all sorts of reasons, so don't be too disappointed if the one you were looking for has disappeared - there are still plenty more super places to find, enjoy and recommend to your friends when you get home.

I read all the reviews on amazon before purchasing as my husband and I are visiting Paris for the first time in June 2011. The book gives details of not only the main tourist spots, but those places where you can visit and feel like a Parisian, where you can experience the true Paris, it details the bistrots, the markets and speciality shops, parks and unique places within each arrondissement where you can experience the best of Paris. He even lists the best hotels to stay in, gives prices and metro lines to take. This is an excellent guide - with tips on how to book a hotel/evening meal etc, where to get your metro carnet (5/10 day pass) and how to use the Parisian toilet system! A clever little book to take along on your trip. I am most excited to take this little gem along to help me experience Paris! A great buy!
Well organized, beautifully written and absolutely essential. Next time I visit Paris, this marvellous little book will be the first thing I pack (along with the Paris Pratique).
