Book Description

23 Feb 2012

When Vahram Muratyan began his online travel journal, Paris versus New York, he had no idea how quickly it would become one of the most buzzed-about sites on the Internet-it garnered more than a million and a half page views in just a few months, and the attention of savvy online critics.

Now Muratyan presents his unique observations in this delightful book, featuring visually striking graphics paired with witty, thought-provoking taglines that celebrate the special details of each city. Paris versus New York is a heartfelt gift to denizens of both cities and to those who dream of big-city romance.

"In his witty, high-concept, high-colored flipbook "Paris Versus New York: A Tally of Two Cities" ...Mr. Muratyan uses splashy collagist art to showcase the visual beauty marks of the two metropolises."--The New York Times

4.0 out of 5 stars stylish comparison of 2 cities 9 Jun 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
A witty and stylish book of cartoon-like pictures comparing the two cities. Will ring a chord with anyone who has visited both. It caught my eye whilst in New York and I recently bought a copy for a friend who loves it too. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars For art lovers and travel buffs..... 31 Jan 2012
By Crosby - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Anyone who has ever visited or lived in one of these two magical cities will be riveted by the beautiful graphic designs in this book as well as amused by the side by side comparisons, often wonderfully ironic. Vahram Muratyan has distilled the essence of both cities with love and a critical eye for each of them. The book is a terrific conversation piece and a great gift for anyone who loves to travel, either physically or just in the mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars tres charmante 21 Feb 2012
By ParisBreakfast - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Witty and fun comparisons that aren't a bit 'odious' unless you'd rather live in the opposite city..like Paris and who wouldn't? Visually and graphically arresting. Each city's icons do a face-off. I'll take Amelie over Carrie anyday. Or would I?

5.0 out of 5 stars Cadeau de Joie 5 Mar 2012
By Carol Colitti Levine - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
My son mAdBen, an Account Exec at Ogilvy, met the talented Parisian graphic artist, Vahram Muratyan at a New York event. Sweet son that he is, he had him sign this book as a birthday gift for his lucky Maman. As soon as I opened the first page, I started to laugh with a joy of immediate knowledge and fun. As a writer who loves to synthesize thoughts into the fewest possible words, this brilliant creation sang to me. Clever, joyous gift of a livre. Pick it up when you need a lift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Bathroom Book 11 May 2012
By nattyscalston - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is a cute book that I would categorize as a "bathroom book" considering the substance of the actual reading - there is very little. It's exactly as picture - pairs of pictures comparing New York City and Paris, though with a definitely bent toward Paris. I am pleased with the purchase.
