Product Description

London docks, twilight, 1850...Twelve-year-old Jack Harkett sees a huge ship sail into port. he also sees a flock of black creatures fly from the ship and disappear over the streets of London. He waits in the shadows, intending to board the ship in search of food, or money or anything he can sell. Instead he meets a boy of his own age...running for his life! Thus streetwise Jack meets the more bookish Benedict and the two become firm friends - and co-conspirators. Ben has seen and heard horrific things. Jack is fascinated by his story and determined to prevent similar things happening in his own city. Together they seek to defeat Camazotz - the vampiric bat god who destroyed the Mayan civilization that destroyed him. But Jack is a street urchin and Ben is an orphan. They have no one to turn to, and nothing to rely on but their wits and each other. Together, they face the Vampire Plagues...

Good 28 Jan 2006
Format:Paperback
I didn't quite enjoy this one as much as the 1st and 3rd books, but it was still good, and vital to the story line. It's still very enjoyable and worth reading. It definately has it's good parts, it's just not quite as memorable as the other books.
Dominique was a funny character. I grew to like her quite a lot by the end of the book.

New Twist for an Old Enemy 7 Sep 2005
By D.E.Williams - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is book two of the Vampire Plagues Trilogy. It finds three young friends (Ben, Emily, and Jack) and an elderly mentor (Prof. Adensapp) on their way to Paris for a conference on Central American Cultures. All of them except Jack are sure they have defeated the Mayan vampire god, Camototz, in their last encounter [which took place in London in the previous book]. The three saw the vampire god descend into hell, along with his minions, but Jack is sure he heard the monster give a warning that he would return and make them pay. Unfortunately, Jack is right. Their enemy is still alive and waiting for them in Paris. They lose their mentor, pick up a new one, develop a new friendship, and barely escape with their lives, on more than one occasion. The book is well written and fast paced. The kids jump from one heart stopping situation to another. There is just a bit of education about Paris and the Mayan culture, and a few new rules for dealing with vampires [they don't fear crosses, and they still "unlive" after having their heads chopped off], but overall it is a fun read and well worth the time. I think the best part is that, although they do always manage to escape, they don't always win.

Paris ends with a preview of the third book of the Trilogy, Mexico, and I can't wait for it to be released.
