Product Description

Interviewer: "Does it make you laugh when people think you're stupid?"Paris Hilton: "Yeah, I laugh all the way to the bank. It's not the way I am."The subject of intense media and public fascination, Paris Hilton is one of the most-discussed celebrities of her generation. From the teenage party girl who was 'famous for being famous' she has blossomed into an actress, pop star and successful businesswoman. "Paris Hilton: Life On The Edge" shows how the heiress made such a success of her life and reveals that far from being an 'airhead', she is a shrewd, determined and hardworking woman. Not that she's afraid of letting her hair down: taking the reader behind-the-scenes of Paris' glamorous life, the book is your all-access pass to the most exclusive fashion shows, premieres and parties. This revealing portrait covers the string of famous men she has dated including actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Backstreet Boy Nick Carter. Her list of friends is just as star-studded including Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie, who co-starred with Paris in the hit reality television show The Simple Life.Lifting the lid on the controversies that have plagued her life, the book tells for the first time the full story of the 2003 sex-tape saga and her imprisonment for driving offences in 2007. Defying her critics, Paris emerged from jail with a fresh sense of perspective and renewed energy. "Paris Hilton: Life On The Edge" offers a unique insight into her complex character and shows that jail was the making not the breaking of her.

5.0 out of 5 stars paris hilton life on the edge, 26 Jun 2009

After searching for an honest, well-written book on paris, (of whom i am a fan!) i found this book. Easy-reading, perfect for the summer holiday! great for the beach. Portrays Paris in a positive life for a change! blows away many false rumours and shows the warmth of Hilton.

I have read several of Chas Newkey-Burden books which I have found great fun to read, well-researched and would defo recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well..., 14 Aug 2008
Whether or not the author writes his own reviews on here is of no interest to me as I enjoy reading the books of Newkey-Burden.

For an alternative look at Paris Hilton, full of wit and analysis of celebrity culture, you needn't look any further.

No doubt someone will jump on here saying I am the author or some such, which smacks a little bit of pot, kettle, black, if you ask me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome antidote to the lies and spite!, 1 Feb 2009
By Scott Murray (Ayrshire, Scotland) - See all my reviews
I found this book to be a welcome antidote to much of the lies and hateful spite usually directed at Paris. For the most part it shows Paris off to good effect. Fans and those who have actually bothered to do some research have seen that Paris is a very warm, sweet and smart person who lives off her own money, does give to charity, doesn't look down on other people and isn't afraid to send herself up, try new things and won't let jealous haters dictate her lifestyle for her. So much of what is written in this book are things that I wish more of the haters would pay attention to.

It's not a perfect book. Sometimes I'd like more focus spent on certain subjects and other times there's too many pages spent than are necessary (the first episode of The Simple Life gets a detailed scene by scene summary while the other seasons only get a couple of pages overall). Sometimes the book wastes pages on things like celebrity lookalikes too. For the most part, if you're a Paris fan or want a more honest portrayal than you'll usually get from rabid haters and a biased media, then this book is a fun enough read (and this kind of coverage is well overdue for Paris and her fans). If you're a hater then sorry, but you won't like the fact that there's plenty of nice things to be said about Paris that don't get said often enough and the book is not for you - nor should it be! There's much more to Paris than most people know or are willing to acknowledge and the more coverage like this, the better!
