Product Description

No more struggling against the wind to fold back the extra large city map you picked up at the tourist office. No more carrying around the exhaustive but back-achingly heavy guide you borrowed from the library. The only thing you need when out and about is a MapGuide. The unique Everyman MapGuide series cleverly combines maps and text in an easy-to-use format, listing the best sights, restaurants and shops alongside fold-out maps of exceptional clarity. Each guide divides the city into sections and devotes two double pages to each of them. Sections are colour coded, and a small area map at the bottom of the page tells you where you are within the city, and within the guide. There are also four pages of useful information about the city at the front of the book, and a four-page city-wide hotel section at the back; plus a street index and thematic index. Stylish, clever, practical and, at GBP5.99, very good value for money, a MapGuide is the indispensable pocket companion to your week end or short break away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small and concise, 23 July 2010
This review is from: Paris 2010 (Everyman MapGuides) (Hardcover)
The great thing about this book is that it is small... easy to fit in your handbag and carry round with you. There is a map for each quarter and a list of about 10 of the key things to see in each.
If you have never been to Paris before I think it would be better to have a guide book which tells you more about each attraction (as the size of this book limits this to a small paragraph). This does have its advantages if you can't be bothered to wade through pages of writing though!
The maps are very good, lots of detail and I used this book to navigate around Paris for 5 days. As I have already mentioned, the map is split by quarter, which has the advantage of giving you good scale and detail on each map, the disadvantage of having to look at areas separately rather than Paris as a whole.
Overall I would highly recommend it.

I love this series, and the updated version, covering a wider area of the city, is invaluable for recommendations and honesty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paris Guide, 23 Aug 2010
This review is from: Paris 2010 (Everyman MapGuides) (Hardcover)
This little book is both strong and useful for quick reference. Easier to use than a smart phone. The map and guide design combined is excellent The metro map was invaluable. It does not have the detail of say a Rough Guide but it has plenty when you are on the move. I had both and used the Rough Guide when at the hotel or in a restaurant and this guide when out and about. I recommend it highly.
