Michael Laemie (played by Brian Madorsky) is a young boy living in a typical 1950's suburbanite home... except for his bizarre and horrific nightmares, and continued unease around his parents. Especially his father, Nick Laemie (played by Randy Quaid). Young Michael begins to suspect his parents are cooking more than just hamburgers on the grill outside, but has trouble explaining his fears to his new-found friend Sheila, or the school's social worker.

Great Black comedy ! 23 Jun 2003

In my opinion Randy Quaid made this film because of his superb acting as a villian. It's an interesting plot about a boy becoming suspicious about having the left overs for his dinner and the story goes on to reveal that his parents are cannibles! It has a very plain ending, but still has a bit of excitement. Overall though it is a great film, get it!!

I dimly remember this film and am looking forward to seeing it again. It is a great paranoia come true thriller which has something to say about the military industrial complex (the dad seems to be working on a prototype of 'Agent Orange') the repressive conformity of the 50's and the slow dawning of consciousness in a young boy about what lies behind the light hearted modernist ideal family and its means of sustenance. It's a concise statement of all that is creepy about the conformist culture of middle America and the 'return of the repressed.' Its a perfect complement to 'Pleasantville'.
