Product Description

Having gained exclusive access to some of Egypt's most ancient and sacred locations, award-winning historian/presenter Tessa Dunlop, and the U.K.'s most acclaimed medium, Derek Acorah, come together in this ground-breaking series to try to shed new light on Egypt's mysteries with a unique blend of history and paranormal investigation. The series, with the assistance of many of the world's leading authorities on Egyptian history, delves into one of the most fascinating ancient cultures in the world, to answer questions that historians have puzzled over for centuries. Visiting legendary locations such as The Valley of Kings, the tombs of Tutankhamun and Rameses III, the Pyramids and The Sphinx, who will Derek make contact with? Will his psychic connections bring us closer to those people that we can't find in the history books? Will the team finally unravel some of the mysteries of murder and intrigue that have plagued historians for years?

Sphinx or Stinks? 24 Nov 2009

I like Derek Acorah; he is a showman. Whether one thinks he is either an extremely gifted medium or a complete charlatan, you can't ignore him.
In this DVD, Derek travels to Egypt to give a Paranormal slant to ancient history and mystery.
He visits the tourist trail, the Sphinx, the Pyramids,Saqqara, even Tutankhamen gets a mention.
I really enjoyed this DVD. Derek does his usual stuff of 'channelling' spirits, and a lot of the information he divulges is already well known, but it doesn't matter:it is all still interesting.
Away from 'Most Haunted', Derek isn't so frenetic and 'obliged' to find paranormal activity. It wouldn't be a Derek Acorah production without a 'possession' in very show and you still get that on this DVD, leading to some very funny moments when he scares the pants off his co-host who-happily-doesn't scream as much as Yvette Fielding and is therefore less irritating. She proves a good sidekick to Derek as they progress around Ancient Egypt.
There are interesting history and facts, lovely photography and the appearance of the eminent Zawi Hawass, a luminary of Egyptology, which gives this DVD a certain gravitas.
If you like Derek Acorah, get this DVD;if you don't, nothing I put in this review will make you part with your pennies. But for my money-the Mighty Derek still rules!

This is a general review having bought this for a webless friend who hasn't watched it yet...But I have seen Acorah and he is an entertainer and I have read widely about ancient Egypt and the occult ideological content of that civilization is not only monumentally all around us,it inspired all the cults of Christian monotheism, of Satanism and of Masonry, not to mention Judaism and Islam,no small inheritance to bequeath a fallen world,I think...As the other reviewist says Dereks accent is distinctly Non-Egyptian where you would perhaps expect him to speak in tongues but then the then athletic hunk Pitt in 2005 never learnt ancient Greek to play the mythical Achiles in Troy,either...I would say Acorah is a sincere actor who enjoys travel and might well be well-read himself but even if he is a charlatan nonetheless occult abilities do exist and another fun fraudster does not prove a general phenomena a lie anymore than Tom Keatings painterly impostors prove Van Goghs originals didn't exist...Mummy horror films depend on the archaological discovery of dusty unsexy Mummies in sad sandy apparent tombs like those shown in this film where the material culture is only a backdrop for Dereks spiritual shows...It's probably unlikely that the Dead would do themselves the indignity of possessing Derek Acorah for the amusement of avid or casual BBC televisual gawkers because they have probably been reincarnated as the followers of the aforementioned cults of fallen Egypt we know all around us from places like Synagogue,Church,Mosque,Lodge and Coven so that it's better to imagine that they channel through us as their heirs rather than ressurect briefly through the odd wandering medium who hunts the hapless Dead who have no more privacy than Attenboroughs creatures...This is almost a Victorian reaction to a materialistic age,to current cynicism and incoherence,to make a spectacle of the alien past where the mystery is our own ignorance...The dvd could make you curious about both the remnant archaology and the occult wisdom that fascinated another alleged channeller,Crowley but as such it is only the very shallow BBC so is more plausible as an entertainment travelogue that is not about food...There are some who will consider Acorah sinister both from a rational and a religious aspect but also some who consider the Rationalist and the Religious aspect of European civilization schizophrenically sinister not least where technology and Inquisitions arise but then such persons will not watch this populist stuff....Curious entertainment for a vacuous era:A zoo of crumbly mummies and their famous Medium and in the clinical arena of the state Media for their curious fee payer clientele, the British Public who believe everything and know nothing,I think.

Excellent 22 May 2012

I've seen some episodes of Paranormal Egypt on TV for a few years ago so i was very pleased when i finally got this DVD-box in my hand. The historian/presenter Tessa Dunlop together with the well-known UK medium Derek Acorah. These 2 makes a good and a entertaining combination. We can also listen to shorter interviews with different Egyptian archaeologists, one among them the famous Zahi Hawass, and many times these archaeologists confirm the information Derek Acorah is giving during his channeling/psychic connections.
This DVD box is entertaining, exciting and worth the money i think. If you are interested in Pharaohs/ancient Egypt, this DVD box is a must. And Personally i believe facts together with psychic information a talented medium can give you, can help solving many questions the after world may have about a certain time...
