As an author myself, I hate to say, I envy Malcolm Robinson: his first book, UFO Case Files of Scotland was published in the spring of this year, then, lo and behold, his second book is published to coincide with this year's "Weird 10" conference, held in Warminster during August. So, with Malcolm, it really is a case of the number 23 bus syndrome: You wait for ages, then two turn up in quick succession!
In this, his second book, Malcolm turns his experienced and attentive eye to all manner of weird and wild paranormal ghosts and the like. Malcolm is a seasoned researcher into all manner of Fortean subjects, and over the years during his investigations has amassed a huge collection of files relating to the unknown.
For those of you who have not heard of Malcolm, let me introduce him. He founded, and was chief investigator for Strange Phenomenon Investigations, or SPI for short, one of the most respected research and investigation groups to be seen here in the UK.
Malcolm's sheer passion and unswerving belief in the paranormal shine through in this book, and at times it's almost like sitting next to a roaring log fire, with Malcolm regaling the adventures and investigations he has carried out over the years.
From his early years he tells of his own, life changing experiences, which over time has shaped his own personal belief system. This is no dry, sterile or rehashed work. His writing is straightforward, and you begin to enjoy his almost endearing writing style.
The book deals with ghosts, goolies and all things that go bump in the night, but Malcolm is just at home and as knowledgeable writing about UFOs, the paranormal, or his lifelong passion of "Nessie" or the Loch Ness Monster. If you get a chance to see Malcolm talk on his escapades looking for the fabled monster, then do so...it's a cracking lecture! This book should grace the shelves of anyone who has an interest in the paranormal. No judgements, just plain reporting, as he lets you, the reader decide.
