About the Author

Ming Tang is an Assistant Professor at School of Architecture and Interior Design, University of Cincinnati. He is also the founding partner of Tang & Yang Architects, which has won design awards in China, Spain, Mexico, U.K. and United States, including the first prize of d3 Natural System, the first place of Cities with Soul, the first place of IAAC self-sufficient housing contest, and the first place of Chichen Itza lodge museum design.

Amazing integration of parametric design process with the powerful creative facilities in Maya. I had been waiting for a book exactly like this but had not found it since the topic is an amalgam of high-powered concepts for creating unique art and structures. Only someone like the author who evidently has delved deeply into how Maya features enable parametric modeling through automation, animation, simulation and even fabrication could deliver this tour de force that will open up a new universe of creative possibilities beyond typical 3D modeling. I'm already applying these techniques to great effect.

Just got it on the iPad...DON'T. For starters, the pictures are super-lores and you can't zoom on them, so all the settings that look to be helpful (I wouldn't know, I can't see them) are useless pixels. Just when I realized there's a big website to help me out, I find that, you guessed it, the videos aren't iPad need the good ol' Flash Player to play 'em. Yeah, I can watch 'em on my PC, but that's NOT why I bought this book on the iPad. Oh well. Huge oversight on either the author's or publisher's part. Makes me wonder what might be overlooked in the book's content. Someone please buy the hardcopy and review it. I'm interested in hearing what I didn't get.
