I do not normally write reviews of products but, for this book, I will make an exception. Contrary to the Amazon listing, there is a Hardback edition of this book although, it is considerably more expensive and harder to acquire than the Board book that Amazon lists. Although this may be listed as a Board book, there is little to no difference between it and what one would describe as a paperback. Content wise both editions are identical, so it is left to the buyer's preference to choose which edition is worth buying. Personally I would recommend the Hardback version, as it is afforded with a sturdier binding.

although this book had pictures in it that you can find elsewhere too, it is very beautiful science fiction art !

A collection of sci-fi themed paintings by Peter Elson and Chris Moore, 'Parallel Lines' presents a stylised, 70s view of the future, as expressed through sci-fi book covers. Although neither Elson nor Moore are as famous in their field as Chris Foss and Syd Mead, they have distinctive styles - Elson piles on layer after layer of detail, with giant starships falling into tiny pieces, and Moore goes for spooky atmosphere, abandonded space-stations and broken wreckage. Neither artist is content to paint space as a black void, either, and vivid colours abound.

Their work is also compiled in the 'Great Space Battles' books, and 'Spacewreck' (or 'Starwreck'), both of which appear to be long out-of-print and rare.
