OK, i was already in love with JM's books, before i read this one, from reading 'Whitney my love' and 'Almost heaven'. When i first heard of this book, i was not too sure whether she would be able to transfer well from historical romance to that of the modern age. However, i am glad to say that i was proved wrong. From the first page you are instantly drawn to Meredith, who is not just another typical, pampered socialite as one would expect. She is both sincere, and yet so innocent, which is rare thing to find these days. However, the great thing about JM is that she always develops both the heroine's and hero's character equally well. Matt is not just a typical playboy, which makes a nice change! It is nice to see that such a dominating person, could be so vulnerable, such is the power of love. I must admit that this story will pull at the heartstrings in places, and yet retains its wit and humour. I can positively say that if you did not read JM's books before, you will want to read them all after this book, which is one of her finest. Likewise, i found it a great pleasure to see both leading characters appear again in the story 'Perfect', which is equally good. So for a night in, this is THE book to read. Believe me, you will never look at JM the same way again.
