OK, i was already in love with JM's books, before i read this one, from reading 'Whitney my love' and 'Almost heaven'. When i first heard of this book, i was not too sure whether she would be able to transfer well from historical romance to that of the modern age. However, i am glad to say that i was proved wrong. From the first page you are instantly drawn to Meredith, who is not just another typical, pampered socialite as one would expect. She is both sincere, and yet so innocent, which is rare thing to find these days. However, the great thing about JM is that she always develops both the heroine's and hero's character equally well. Matt is not just a typical playboy, which makes a nice change! It is nice to see that such a dominating person, could be so vulnerable, such is the power of love. I must admit that this story will pull at the heartstrings in places, and yet retains its wit and humour. I can positively say that if you did not read JM's books before, you will want to read them all after this book, which is one of her finest. Likewise, i found it a great pleasure to see both leading characters appear again in the story 'Perfect', which is equally good. So for a night in, this is THE book to read. Believe me, you will never look at JM the same way again.

I have read this book up to five times now and I still go back to it time and time again. Matt Ferrell and Meredith Bancroft are two people trying to love, live and overcome major obstacles in their lifes, like family opposition and maintaining a career. Matt Ferrell is my idea of the strong, but not always quiet type who sees a girl and wants her, but at what costs. The supporting characters in the book are very unique themselves and they also keep you on your toes, as you wonder what is going to happen next? Judith Mcnaught is a one of a kind writer, she brings to life the characters in her books and makes reading a pleasurable experience for everyone.

I was hardly able to put this book down from start to finish. A fabulous romance that succeeded against all odds. This was the first book that I read by Judith McNaught and it certainly introduced me to many more wonderful reads.

I'd read a couple of Judith McNaught's books. Then I read Paradise - by far the best. I couldn't put it down. I've re-read the book several times and never tire of it. This book has a permanent home on the shelf. Meredith and Matt are a fictional couple who jump out of the page because Judith makes them real and believable. The pace never slips and your interest is kept from beginning to end. A great read and thoroughly recommended. Judith's books always tell a great story, but Paradise is definitely top of the pile.

Format: Paperback
Judith Mcnaught is a master of poignant moments in romantic writing. Paradise is one of her better novels in which she recreates such breathtaking moments, set against a trademark storyline of two people in love with one another, but having to wade through practical and emotional obstacles before they unite.
Meredith Johnson's marriage to Matt Farrell ended disastrously while both were young. After years of estrangement they meet again, reunited by a twist of fate on the eve of Meredith's marriage to her fiance. Both are older and wiser, but can they resist the chemistry that flares up between them? Of course not.
The ingredients are all there: beautiful men and women; quirky secondary characters; subtle wit; heartbreak; plus endearing moments. Mcnaught has created a glamourous romance classic, and even if the mystery plot is a bit ludicrous, this book still has high entertainment value.

Usually, I take at least three books when I go on a holiday, but last time I just took Paradise with me. I read and re-read it so often during and even after my holiday: I just couldn't get enough of it! The story makes you furious one minute, sad the next and then laughing. I would absolutely not be as forgiving as Meredith is towards her father, but it fits her character. Part of the strength of this book is that you really get to know and love Meredith and Matt and that, while you rationally realize that these people do not truly exist, you feel that they do!

I have read all of Judith Mcnaught's regency novels and have only recently started reading her contempary books. This is one of the best, second only to Perfect which I would highly recommend. The plot in paradise was brilliant, you got to know the charecters and their situations and are with them all the way.

Highly recommended to a Mcnaght fan or not.
