4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good, 30 April 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Paradise City (Paperback)
Bought this at the airport 'cos it was on special offer - glad I did. Fast-paced, entertaining and well-researched, this is a proper page-turner! Cool hero, engaging supporting characters and well-crafted plot. It's not high-brow or anything but suspend disbelief (and ignore a couple of slightly unrealistic events)and relax and enjoy an exciting ride.
Basically, a very cool Italian cop with a personal vendetta against the Camorra ends up having to go to New York to face his nemesis (with a little help from his friends).
Above average for this genre, the style is good and sets the scenes vividly without being too detailed or long-winded. The hero may be driven but he isn't depressing like some of the cop heroes in novels these days, but you'll have to read it to find out if there's a happy ending.
Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars andrea camilleri, 11 Oct 2005
This review is from: Paradise City (Paperback)
The only praise I can give this book is the author's name-drop of Andrea Camilleri right at the end of this straight-to-dvd paid-by-the-word plodder. Get it from the library if you feel you must read it, but look up Camilleri.
