worth it 26 Jan 2006
Format:DVD
I had no idea what to expect with the remix (for both the new dvd singles), I kept thinking on the lines of a NIN remix for some reason. When it started I didnt even realise it had began.... but in my opinion its vert interesting.

As for the commentary, I couldnt stop laughing, it is so funny. As if we would expect a proper commentary from Tool? HA...no way, of course not.

And its also good to have the video's. Seeing how net downloads are worthless at best, and Seeing them on tv is hit and miss.

I was pretty impatient to receive the singles, so I ordered them from America on dec 20th, when they we released.

Unbelievable!!! 28 Mar 2006

TOOL videos are just unbelievable. They look so beautiful the attention to detail is mind blowing!
If you're a TOOL fan you'll know that already.
This DVD is well worth the money, the remix is fantastic. It's not a cut and paste, with bits thrown in job like most "remixes" this is completely different. It's long!!
I've yet to check out the commentary but I doubt it's "boring".

If you liked Salival you'll love this.

In this review I will be writing of both the Parabola and Schism DVD singles:
As a great fan of Tool and music videos alike I have rarely seen many band that have had such amazing visuals in there promotional videos to match there stunning innovative music abilities. Tool are definitely among these including Radiohead's 'No Suprises', Muse's 'Bliss' , Nine Inch Nails' 'Closer' and 'Perfect Drug' and Massive Attack's 'Teardrop'.
When i first heard of the two mind blowing music videos from Lateralus from 2001 to be released in full digital glory complete with an audio commentaries I was totally thrilled and could not wait. But unfortunately the result is a lame release and merley a dull cash in.
The Parabol/Parobola video is the best of the two videos as it is a visually stunning peace of work which is worthy of the superb songwhich wa my introduction to Tool on MTV2.
Schis is ,again, visually stunning but is very confusing and hard to watch in terms of repetitive vewing - I bet I'll see this two more times in the future.
As I heard of this release I was thrilled to hear some commentaries from the makers but this is where it gets tricky as there is what the makers of the DVD refer to as a 'Dual commentary' I refer to it as a load of nonsense. It is basically both commentaries at the same time which ads further confusion to th whole packing of menus that are irritating enough to navigate through. The makers must have thought of the whole Dual commentary conept as a clever / innovative feture but i'm sorry it JUST DOES NOT WORK.
This , in my eyes , is just another cash in for there new release later this year and to remind us of there credibility and pionering efforts........proceed with caution.
However this does not chang my attiudes to Tool as a band they are amazing and i can not wait for ther latest effort 10,000 Days later this year and there new tour.
