Product Description

A breakthrough paper-folding book for kids-paper airplane meet origami meets Pokemon. Papertoys, the Internet phenomenon that's hot among graphic designers and illustrators around the world, now comes to kids in the coolest new book. Created by Brian Castleforte, a graphic designer and papertoy pioneer who rounded up 25 of the hottest papertoy designers fro around the world ( Indonesia, Japan, Australia, Italy, Croatia, Chile, etc). PAPERTOY MONSTERS offers 50 fiendishly original die-cut designs that are ready to pop out, fold, and glue. The book interleaves card stock with paper stock for a unique craft package; the graphics are colourful and hip, combing the edginess of anime with the goofy fun of Uglydolls and other collectibles. Plus each character comes with its own back-story. The results are delicious: meet Pharaoh Thoth Amon, who once ruled Egypt but is now a mummy who practices dark magic in his sarcophagus. Or Zumbie the Zombie, who loves nothing more than a nice plate of brains and yams. NotSoScary, a little monster so useless at frightening people that he has to wear a scary mask. Yucky Chuck, the lunchbox creature born in the deepest depths of your school bag. Plus Zeke, the monster under your bed, Nom Nom, eater of cities, and Grumpy Gramps, the hairy grandpa monster with his very own moustache collection. Includes 10 black templates for you to design your own paper toy monsters!

Format:Paperback
Designer, illustrator and papertoy artist Brian Castleforte has compiled a simply gorgeous book that makes it easy for anyone with the slightest interest to 'pop-out' the papertoy monster, fold and glue the heavy-weight paper into a fabulous, scary 'Monster Legend', Earth, Ocean & Space Monster', 'Mutant, Food & Thing Monster' or a 'Human Monster. 50 super creations that'll get you and your friends (if you want to share that is) building for hours.

No need for cutting, so it's suitable for ages 9+ (book recommended)

Outstanding book :) 6 May 2011

Format:Paperback
If your kids are into strange monsters and making things, then this really is a book for you. My 8 year old loves it and has already made a third of the models in just over a week or so. Better than watching TV or playing on the Wii, its a practcal hands on making experiance made all the easier by having the parts die-cut and pre creased. My 5 year old son has also been making but needs help and supervision. Most of the designs are fairly simple, but the surface graphics are so well done, that they look far more complicated than they actually are.
Another excellent addition to this title is the inclusion of 10 blank die-cut designs which you can colour and dectorate to create you own monsters, robots or whatever your imagination conjours up.
Highly recommended and a real bargain at this price. I ended up bying 4 copies - one more for my own boys and a couple to give as presents to his like minded friends :)
