I am not a fan of the traditional romance books, just not my genre. But I loved this book. It's not what I would call a romance, though the plot is Ruby and Jack's relationship. This is good fiction. The main characters are fiesty and strong, you genuinely want them to win, namely each other. They are created as what actual people might be, not some farfetched fairy tale. Bowman shows himself to be adapt with phrasing, with parts that made me laugh out loud: Jack's demolition of Ziggy's car and Jack's dialogue with Hamish after the buck night were particularly funny. Also, contains depiction of the outback, a treat for those away from it. A solidly happy book, read for good feelings. Wish I could see the film.
