Now I'm not into the paper crafts that most people associate with your average "crafter" eg. decoupage, but I love paper manipulation such as pop-ups, origami and the other styles of paper craft in this book. My dad has already "ordered" one of the projects to be his birthday gift this year!

Hands on Fun! 3 April 2011
Format:Paperback
This book gives lots of fun crafting projects. Some of them are quite challenging and some of them are quite simple so there is a good variety in there.

The illustrations were beautiful, and I was disappointed to learn that patterns were not included.

Good artistic selections 3 April 2007
By Harry Holloway - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Diane Maure-Mathison does a good job of putting together a nice selection of creative ideas with paper. She focuses on creativity and simple ideas that can be easily expanded. Her work on pop-ups which I was looking for covers the basics but does not go into the details of more complex design.

Springboard, not a template 20 Dec 2008
By Inkdrinker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is an excellent source book for overview of different types of paper art and engineering. The writer supplies ample photos of her own and other artists' work to demonstrate the finished product for the techniques used. Even the simpler projects include photos of the construction in progress, with specific attention to details of technique and how to use supplies and tools. Diagrams are used when needed to convey the concepts more clearly. Just browsing through, I could understand the folding and construction directions and see how this translated to the finished pieces. Read a few captions, and you realize all the little gems of knowledge and advice that are imparted--details that will make a difference in the successful application to your own project.
This book is not for those who want models and instructions 'insert tab AA through hole 16 into slot c1B'. It will give you the knowledge to take a project from start to finish, and maybe the inspiration to transition from crafter to artist.
