3.0 out of 5 stars Can't print from iPad 5 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I saw this book at a show and loved some of the patterns. When I saw I could get it for kindle I ordered it but was disappointed to find I could not print patterns from my iPad. Other books I've purchased allow me to do this. As I'm now allergic to switching on my lap top I find this a great disadvantage hence the lower rating.

Beautiful cover but inside was a huge disappointment . An expensive mistake at £20, gave it for a raffle prize.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning collection of beautiful mix and match garden-themed blocks 27 Dec. 2013
By Lynne in CO - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book contains a lovely mix of paper pieced garden-themed 7" and 5" blocks that can be sewn either on the square or on the point like a diamond. (The 5" squares sewn as diamonds become 7" squares.) There are several floral patterns as well as 2 birds (a dove and a robin) and a squirrel. There's also a pine cone. Many of the designs are fairly involved requiring many little pieces of fabric. The authors suggest cutting each fabric piece to match the corresponding shape in the design, but I prefer to cut rectangles. Either way, preparation for the more elaborate designs is quite time consuming. But the results are well worth the effort.

Also included are applique patterns that are added on top of the quilt. There are different kinds of leaves and lily pad-type shapes. Put together, the results are stunning. If you look carefully at the cover of the book, you'll see diagonal "rows" of floral paper pieced blocks with applique lily pad shapes, stems/vines, and stepping stones.

The book contains many examples of how the various designs can be combined into smaller and larger projects with seasonal or holiday themes. There are even suggestions for quilting designs.

Overall I am very excited about this book and look forward to trying to mix and match my own garden themed quilt.

What I have found quite useful are not only some of the paper-pieced flowers but very useful tips for working on this type of application.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than a lot of other paper piecing books 3 May 2014

I've been looking for a paper piecing book with these type of patterns. Mainly I wanted a good squirrel pattern. This has it. These patterns reproduce well on foundation paper. The book is attractive, inspiring and put together well.
