2.0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable Read 1 Oct. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This was an enjoyable read, although I was hoping for 'a little more' after reading the book outline. I think it is worth a 2.5 out of 5. I didn't give it 3 as I got a bit irritated by Liza Lithgow's WAG tips! That said - it was still a pleasant way to loose a few hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Take On WAGS. 8 July 2013
By Ruby Reads - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
In most sports, such as rugby and soccer, there's a section reserved for wives and girlfriends (WAGS). This is the story of a WAG who gets paid by the athletes to be their escorts/girlfriend and is sponsored by fashion designers to wear their clothes to galas. The heroine has a degree in marketing, but uses her beauty and the money she gets to support her sister who has cerebral palsy. She keeps this aspect of her life secret. The hero is a successful London publisher who has just returned to rehab his dead father's publishing house and needs a tell all book to save the business. The heroine plans to get out of the WAG business because her investmens are enough for her to care for her sister with a marketing job she hopes to get. The last night she plans to spend as a WAG she meets the hero and they have a one night stand. Initially the heroine refuses to accept a contract, but when her investment counselor absconds with her fortune, she accepts the publishing contract only to discover that hero is her one-night stand partner. She accepts a contract with the proviso that she be hired in marketing also. The two characters have a strong attraction and both have issues-heroine abandonment and he guilt from a bad relationship with his dead father.
Pros: I feel the author did well in her characterization as characters were sympathetic and likeable.
The pace was good. Interesting beauty tips.
Cons:Typical romance plot, two flawed characters and one has to give more than the other.
Would I recommend? Yes. It held my interest and I read in one day.

4.0 out of 5 stars emotional Australian contemporary romance 19 Jun. 2013

Format:Mass Market Paperback
What the Paparazzi Didn't See
Nicola Marsh
Harlequin Kiss, Jun 18 2013, $4.99
ISBN: 9780373207220

In Melbourne Liza Lithgrow is an elite sportsman's WAG (wives and girlfriends) in order to pay for the care of her disabled younger sister Cindy. The paparazzi love capturing her with affluent athletes like Jimmy. However, Liz feels good that she has finally made the money needed to insure Cindy's care for life so plans to become an ex-WAG.

Qu Publishing CEO Wade Urquart and Liza meet and share an incredible night as she celebrates her liberation. The morning after is ruined when they learn who the other is. He wants her to write a scandalous kiss-and-tell autobiography that will save his company; while she learns her investment broker Walden Wren ran off with his clients' money including her sister's trust fund. As she agrees to write her story, they fall in love but Liza fears Wade will not see beyond what the paparazzi see.

This is an emotional Australian contemporary romance starring two protagonists with family issues that motivate both of them; as besides caring for her sister, her parents deserted Cindy, and he failed his late father so guilt drives his need to save Qu. Though readers should skip Liza Lithgrow's "Style Tips for Maximum WAG Wow Impact" which opens each chapter with amusing cuteness that feels out of place, fans will relish this strong passionate tale.

Word pictures were spot on. Events and people may not always be as they seem and this author did a good job of driving that point home.
