This is a beautiful book for children and adults. I bought it as a Christmas present for both my god-children. When I was a little girl, my dad used to read this book to us on Christmas Eve to remind us what Christmas is all about and what our response in life should be - considering the poor, those who are downtrodden. It used to make me cry - and it still does! I hugely recommend it.

I defy anyone to read this without being moved - a simple but profound story that touches the best in human nature - Read it! Share it! An old man with expectations at christmas time who has various meetings with people as they come to his house....

Christmas tale
A lovely Christmas tale,beautifully illustrated.Read to many classes this Christmas before performing musical version.A nice alternative story set in Russia.Children loved it.
