Julie Downing has been illustrating children's books for many years. Her portfolio ranges from picture books to children's Bibles, with a variety of different styles. She lives in San Francisco, USA.

This is a beautiful book for children and adults. I bought it as a Christmas present for both my god-children. When I was a little girl, my dad used to read this book to us on Christmas Eve to remind us what Christmas is all about and what our response in life should be - considering the poor, those who are downtrodden. It used to make me cry - and it still does! I hugely recommend it.

I defy anyone to read this without being moved - a simple but profound story that touches the best in human nature - Read it! Share it! An old man with expectations at christmas time who has various meetings with people as they come to his house....
