The Pandora Hearts series is one i am a huge fan of, and have purchased and pre-ordered the manga's from various sites. the story is as follows.
It's 19th Century England. Oz Bezarius is an ordinary, if slightly spoiled, 15 year old child. Denied by his father, his only goal in life is to enjoy it. But when he begins his oath at his coming of age ceremony, the 'stopped clock', a clock which had been stuck ever since the tragedy of Sabrie 100 years ago, mysteriously starts moving again. The Baskervilles, with no prior warning, come to him, and banish him to the Abyss, a place told to be where people are taken should they commit grave sins. B-rabbit, a mysterious Girl, appears before them, stopping them, until she finds out their goal, and leaves Oz to them. After getting sent to the Abyss, he meets B-rabbit, now known to us as Alice, again, and later forms a contract with her, enabling them to escape back to Oz's world. the only thing is, the world they return to is foreign to the both of them. who is Pandora? Who can they really trust?
First, and this goes without saying, the authors artwork, though muddled at times, is absolutely beautiful. The characters are really brought to life, and the more you read, the more the story becomes clearer. This volume is the weak point of the series, as the difficulty in introducing the characters and plot is a big problem when the personalities are as distinct as this, but the author pulls it off towards the second half of the story.
The characters themselves are beautifully detailed, though due to the lack of colour, can be hard to distinguish at times. this by no means affects the story, which is something of a masterpiece. the series is a hit manga in both japan and the USA, and it really is something you can't miss out on.
Right now, with the price less than half the RRP, theres no reason not to get it.
