Purchased in July 2012.
This is a fantastic little machine! The zoom is far superior to any more-expensive panasonic models and the digital zoom (goes up to 3500x) is actually pretty good quality. I honestly thought there was going to be some sort of downside, because of the deceptively low price, but truth is...there isn't.
The wide-angle lens certaintly is wide and the scene-modes actually make a difference. Haven't tested the editing software that came with it, but I use Sony Vegas anyway.
Charger has a mains adapter, which is possibly the most useful little gadget I've ever come across. Doesn't come with an SD card, but a cheap 4gb (which I've got at the moment) holds about an hour of video, which is a cheap starting point.
As to the mega-pixels, I couldn't find anything significantly better, even in the £400 panasonic models. The quality on the LCD screen when recording is amazingly clear.
The LCD isn't touch-screen, that is the only downside, BUT the controls are easy to use and the buttons aren't too small.
My advice? BUY IT NOW. It is an inexpensive, fantastic little machine, perfect for amateur film-makers, home film-makers, preservers of family memories, anyone. And for 180 quid, it's HD.....you cannot go wrong.
Arrived before the estimated delivery date as well!
Oh, and the best part? When viewing the video recorded, you can protect it against accidental deletion - this means it is impossible to accidently delete anything from the memory card! Fantastic!
Again, my advice - BUY IT. You will not find a better camcorder for a better price...from Panasonic anyway.
