Game Mode

Saving Energy with Eco Mode

As people become more aware about environmental concerns, the power consumption of their electronic products presents itself. To improve on the environmental impact of power consumption, Panasonic has introduced an Eco Mode as standard in most of its VIERA TVs. By activating the Eco Mode, a photo sensor measures the ambient light conditions of the room and the picture settings adjust automatically. As a result, the TV uses less power in darkly-lit conditions without any compromise of the picture quality.

Superb & better than my LCD Sony 1 Sep 2010

I'm a loyal Sony consumer and have a 40inch HD LCD and an older 32 inch CRT TV. I plumped for the panasonic Plasma after a lot of research (I mean a lot!). The Sony LCD TV that we have is a good TV, but does suffer with poor blacks (appear grey wehn watching a film at night) and the colours are a bit dull - being really fussy here. HAd read a lot of good reports about the Panasonic Plasmas, good blacks and colour. TV arrived yesterday and is simply superb. Blacks and colour a spot on - the picture is very very good. SD through the normal ariel looks very good, and the HD through the sky+ box is knock out - we watched a film last night through sky anytime and it was awesome quality. Have not tried DVDs as yet, but expecting good quality there too. Sound is perfectly fine for everyday...not too tinny when in "music" mode rather than "voice" - and would use the 5.1 speakers for movies anyway. Bought from amaozon for �660 and compared to the Sony equiv LCD is a bargain...a steal in fact. I dont leave feedback often, but felt this TV is understated and worthy of a few lines. A NO BRAINER BUY OPTION!

After spending hours trawling the net looking at forums and 'expert' reviews on this and other TVs I got so confused that I was a bit apprehensive when the TX-P46S20B actually arrived. My apprehension was instantly put to rest the moment I saw the picture from a blu-ray disc - stunning! No buzzing, no flickering just a fantastic picture. Plasma screens are notoriously reflective, so placement in the room needs to be considered especially if you watch TV mostly in the daytime (don't place it facing the windows).

If, like me, you're in two minds whether to buy this or the later (and much more expensive) 46G20 and picture quality is your only criteria, buy this. It doesn't have all the gizmos of the G20 but if you're just going to watch it rather than play with it, you won't see hardly any difference.

There's quite a debate about whether or not this model actually does use the 'NeoPDP' panel technology that amazon advertise it as having. No mention of it on the box or manual, but the black levels really couldn't be any blacker as far as I'm concerned. SD DVD is also a brilliant picture. DVB SD TV is obviously nowhere near as good as HD, and on a TV this size you will clearly see a big difference in quality, same with the G20, but unlike many LCD TVs you don't get the 'blocky pixelated' effect. In short, if you're only going to watch SD TV, I wouldn't bother with a TV of this size Plasma or LCD at all, but if you have HD TV or watch lots of DVDs and blurays, buy it.
