Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Full-HD Plasma TV with Superb Picture Quality for 2D and 3D, and Advanced Networking Capabilities

The viewing experience has never been so lifelike and compelling as it is with Panasonic's 3D Technology. The fast switching phosphors used in the Neo Plasma panels and an original light-emitting process minimise crosstalk (double images) to deliver clear 3D images and ensure comfortable viewing. This technology also helps to improve 2D picture quality.

The 600Hz Sub-field Drive* in VIERA plasma TVs teams up with Intelligent Frame Creation Pro technology to deliver smooth, fluid, on-screen motion. By using an intelligent algorithm within the picture processing based on motion detection, the best combination of frames is created to deliver ultra crisp sports, film and game action. *When using Cinema mode

VIERA incorporates technology that analyzes picture information and creates precise supplementary frames. This suppresses the jerky effect seen in movies, so playback is smooth and natural-looking. The distinctive tonal qualities and atmosphere of the movie are preserved.

VIERA Connect allows users to enjoy video and music, sports, games, and a variety of other content in addition to the standard movies and TV programmes on a high-quality large-screen TV through the simple operation of a remote control. The cloud-based Internet service also supports interactive services using applicable equipment as well as an Internet-based shopping function that allows such equipment to be purchased straight from the TV.

The VIERA UT30 Plasma TV series includes a DVB-T2 tuner for Freeview HD providing you with a convenient, subscription free way of watching HD contents like sport, as well as your favourite soaps, dramas and documentaries in full HD glory wherever you are in the UK (Please ensure that Freeview HD coverage is available in your local area before using this TV).

Panasonic plasmas are well known for their picture quality and this television does not disappoint. It lacks the filters of some of the more expensive Panasonics but still gives good blacks. Freeview HD is great. Viera Connect is a great improvement of previous incarnations and includes BBC iPlayer. I haven't tried the 3D yet as the glasses are so expensive, but reviews say it doesn't suffer from crosstalk like many sets. You'd struggle to find a better television for the price, even without the 3D capabilities.

Bought this to replace an ageing LG Plasma, and what a difference. The SD quality on this set more than matches the old LG was on HD. Games are amazingly smooth and vivid, and the 3D which for me was just an added bonus, is nothing short of stunning.

Having read many reviews with users having had a few issues with this set, all I can confirm is that this is a top notch TV for a bargain price. I got it with the glasses and Blu Ray player deal, and after a bit of wheeler dealing, the Panasonic has cost me £360. The best bargain Amazon has ever sold me.

I bought this TV as a replacement for my 37in Panasonic Plasma which was not Full HD. My previous TV was good with freeview & excellent with Blu-ray & Sky HD & fast-action sports were smooth. Now for the Panasonic TX-P42UT30B (purchased from Currys for £499 with 2 free pairs of Panasonic 3D glasses (RRP £89.99 each))............. I'm blown away. Set up was a doddle & completed within 15 minutes of getting it out of the box. The auto-tune, when complete, switched automatically to the BBC1 Freeview channel - WOW. The clarity of the picture was fantastic & there seemed to be an almost 3D-esque depth to the image - so much so that I pressed the '3D' button on the remote just to ensure I was just watching a 2D image (which I was). The sharpness & detail of the images were simply stunning. The colours, initially, were a little extreme with reds too overpowering but with a little tweaking of the easy to use Picture Menu this was soon resolved giving a more realistic image. Freeview HD was clearer still (as would be expected) but not massively. This is because the standard Freeview picture is so fantastic in it's own right. Watching the set through Sky HD - picture quality again is excellent on both standard and HD channels and the images watching the Champions League highlights were impressive and again had an incredible depth. Hooking it up to the Blu Ray player playing Terminator Salvation and again the set is awesome and the depth & clarity is jaw-dropping. The dark scenes at the start & the fast action are dealt with aplomb and the blacks are handled superbly. As for 3D images - I have only watched these using the 2D to 3D convertor which is built into the TV and, to be perfectly honest, I haven't noticed any significant difference.Read more ›

I'm a fan of the plasma panel - and with the addition of 3D software, and the excellent Panasonic DVB tuner and display firmware - it's a pleasing and rewarding experience of watching TV. Speakers are small-ish and the sound isn't Hi-Fi.. but if you're splashing out on high quality display technology, why wouldn't you do the same for sound?
