Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

HDMI

HDMI is a high-capacity interface that transfers High Definition pictures and surround sound in a single cable without compressing them first, ensuring no loss in quality. That means you can easily hook up a VIERA U2 LCD TV to a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc™ Player or a LUMIX digital camera via an HDMI cable and enjoy High Definition films – with a stunning picture and sound. The Panasonic VIERA U2 LCD TVs are equipped with two HDMI ports.

IPS Alpha Full HD Panel

Based on the next generation of Panasonic IPS Alpha panels, VIERA U2 LCD TVs provide the widest viewing angle possible with the least colour washout, even when viewed from the side.

Immerse yourself in the depth of sound from Panasonic's V-Audio Surround Sound technology
Immerse yourself in the depth of sound provided from Panasonic's V-Audio Surround Sound technology

View Photos from your SD Card

It's easy to view HD images with the SD card slot. Watch and show your photos and motion images right after you take them. Simply insert an SD Memory Card into VIERA to display photos and HD videos on the large screen. An easy-to-see, easy-to-use thumbnail display has also been added. You can also enjoy special background music, slideshow frames and transition effects.

V-Audio Surround Sound

The Panasonic VIERA LCD U2 TVs are equipped with V-Audio Surround Sound providing in-depth sound-image effect by early reflection data, based on the actual room measurement which has been generated from a digital signal processor.

Game Mode

In Game Mode, quicker image response increases the enjoyment of video games when a game console is connected to the TV. What's more, VIERA produces the dark images in video games more clearly. This mode works with the anti-image retention (wobbling) function, too.

VIERA Eco Link

VIERA Link uses the control signals that are transmitted through an HDMI cable for automated functions. Just press the VIERA Link button on the VIERA TV remote to control your entire Panasonic components including Home Cinema Systems, HD camcorder and Lumix digital cameras.
In 2009 the VIERA Link concept has been further developed, providing you even more functions. For example, Eco Link which helps you to save energy by putting all connected Panasonic devices into sleep mode when they are not used.

Saving Energy with Eco Mode

As people become more aware about environmental concerns, the power consumption of their electronic products presents itself. To improve on the environmental impact of power consumption, Panasonic has introduced an Eco Mode as standard in most of its VIERA TVs. By activating the Eco Mode, a photo sensor measures the ambient light conditions of the room and the picture settings adjust automatically. As a result, the TV uses less power in darkly-lit conditions without any compromise of the picture quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars wow great tv 22 Sep 2010

i just had a knee replacement so im house bound pretty much for the next few weeks, my old crt tv went pop on thursday, friday i ordered this tv, saturday the tv arrived, so as you can imagine im really pleased with the delivery time.

you need a crosshead screwdrive to fix the base to the tv.

once the aerial and power supply was plugged in, the tv was switched on for the first time. every thing is automatic, you have to enter your details etc as a security thing that didnt take long.

the picture is perfect no messing around setting up colours etc, being a bit of technofile i was expecting to have spend ages setting everything up but its perfect out the box. you can fiddle with the setting but the default setting are best ive found.

setting up the ps3 and cable tv is a piece of cake, too. shame the tv doesnt come with hdmi cable lucky i had cables anyway.

the picture is massive, crisp blacks, perfect imagine. blue ray discs or HD channels is like looking at a photo

ive used the freeview a little, some stations aint that sharp, but that might be my aerial.

thumbs up great tv i love it.

We chose this as we wanted 42", a decent brand, a good image and a reliable firm in case of returns. returns not needed, happy with everything else. very nice TV, arrived promptly and well packed, easy to set up and excellent HD picture, looks very nice mounted on the wall, would recommend.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic Viera TX-L42U2B 30 Aug 2010
A great TV which is very easy to use. Tunes itself upon opening in new location. Switches easily between DVB, analogue and satellite TV. Very good sharp picture with life like colours. The TV is lightweight compared to the last one we had despite the size being larger.Menu easy to use as is the remote control. On the down side although sound is very pleasant, we constantly find we have to turn up the sound to hear better. Would recommend use of surround sound.Despite problems with speakers, would recommend highly. Have not tried the Viera add-ons such as viewing memory cards on the large screen.

Panasonic Viera TX-L42U2B 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview
When I finally decided to go for the larger screen TV I didn't know anything about them.So I did my research and without a doubt this TV fitted my requirement exactly. The size for my living room was correct. It fitted where I wanted it to go, which was most important.
When I received it, (three days earlier than expected) it came in very good packaging with no signs of poor handling. When I opened it the paperwork was readily available so I could read all assembly instructions before removing it from its packaging. The assembly was straight forward just needed a screwdriver and a flat surface and a sheet of some sort, I used a bath towel did the job nicely. I place it where I wanted it switched it on and watched it self tune... It took about six minutes but I didn't have to a thing which this was a first for me. Then my viewing experience began. I always thought that earlier HD TV's where a bit slow meaning on action or quick moving sports etc the pixels where not getting there quick enough. But with my very critical eye this seems to be almost eliminated completely. So in conclusion I would have to give it 9.9 out of 10 I recommend this telly highly
