VIERA Link – saving energy with Eco Mode

As people become more aware about environmental concerns, the power consumption of their electronic products presents itself. By activating the Eco Mode, a photo sensor measures the ambient light conditions of the room and the picture settings adjust automatically. In VIERA LCD TVs, every frame is shown 4 times, which increases the 24p signal to 96Hz. So you can enjoy movies at their original frame rate, just as the director intended.

24p Smooth Film

However, the issues start when we want to view them on our home TVs which operate at a slightly higher number of frames per second. For perfectly smooth movie images at home, 24p Smooth Film increases the number of frames displayed. That means new frames are inserted, based on the original 24 frames of the movie source, and the frame count is increased to up to 96 frames per second, resulting in unrivalled smoothness and motion transition.

How are people currently operating their AV products? Suppose you want to watch the latest film on a Blu-ray DiscTM: first you would have to power up the Blu-ray player with your Blu-ray player remote control, and then you need to turn on your TV and select the correct AV channel input using your TV remote control. After that you would switch back to the Blu-ray player remote control and press 'Play'. In case you also have a Home Cinema System you would need another remote control to operate your Home Cinema System properly. So before you can lean back and enjoy your movie, you are forced to use three completely different remote controls!
