Manufacturer's Description

freeview HD
Enjoy subscription free HD programmes with Freeview HD or Freesat, the choice is yours.

Freeview HD

The VIERA DT30 LED LCD TV series includes a DVB-S tuner for Freesat HD and a DVB-T2 tuner for Freeview HD providing you with a convenient, subscription free way of watching HD contents like sport, as well as your favourite soaps, dramas and documentaries in full HD glory wherever you are in the UK (Following a one off installation payment for Freesat HD services whereas for Freeview HD you will need to ensure coverage is available in your local area).

FULL HD 3D LED LCD TV

The viewing experience has never been so lifelike and compelling as it is with Panasonic's 3D technology. Compared to conventional panels, the IPS Alpha panel used for the 3D LED LCD TV has doubled the response speed for a more uniform and rapid response. Also, a newly developed and original high-speed drive system increases the drive speed to achieve the highest level of 3D LCD image quality and minimal crosstalk, thus delivering clear 3D images and ensuring comfortable viewing.

The IPS Alpha panel, which is known for its wide viewing angle and excellent light transmittance, is now further enhanced with a bright, energy-saving LED backlight. Images do not fade when viewed from an angle, and a uniformly high-speed response across the entire range ensures crisp moving images with minimal afterglow. The IPS Alpha LED LCD offers superb contrast and also contributes to the display's slim design.

In addition to IPS Alpha panel features such as an inherently fast response, Panasonic has achieved sharp, clear motion images by precisely controlling the backlight. Previous frames shut out any interference to frames other than the one that is being rendered, to effectively reduce afterimages. Fast-moving scenes, such as those in sports and action films, are produced in intricate detail.

active shutter glasses
Active shutter glasses help to create stunning FULL HD 3D (glasses not included).
Active Shutter Glasses

When you watch 3D on a TV, even a slight blur can negatively affect the level of immersion. To get the best 3D picture quality possible, Panasonic employs Active Shutter Glasses (not included) which are synchronised to the frame sequential driving of the TV. With this technology the viewer enjoys a cinema-like resolution of 1920 x 1080 for each eye. Viewers can then enjoy a gripping 3D experience without resolution and viewing angle deterioration.

Deeper Blacks & Lower Power Consumption

LEDs achieve high brightness with low power consumption. Our next-generation, high-efficiency LCD was created by using an LED for the backlight and combining it with the IPS Alpha panel, which features high light transmission efficiency. The panel drive system employs a local dimming method that controls specific parts of the backlight. By maximising inherent device advantages, we have achieved highly robust black reproduction while using less power.

I have had this tv for a month and I thought that I would give it a thorough work out before posting a review.
I am sure that anyone reading this review has undertaken a lot of research into the right tv for them, I went though many publications and websites before settling on this model. The 37DT30B replaced a very good toshiba 32" LCD. I wanted a bigger screen but found that the 40" sizes were just a bit too big for our living room (and my partner's aesthetic sensibilities). The panasonic looks smaller than our old tv as the bezel is very slim and the speakers are cleverly hidden at the back.

I chose the LCD over Panasonic's excellent plasma products due to the large amount of ambient light in the room - plasmas look at their best in darker rooms. The 3D was a bonus but not a deal-breaker - I just wanted an excellent tv. I have a Virginmedia V+ box so my input signal is very good. The SD channels look great but the HD channels are outstanding. The terrestrial standard def channels are OK but I would feel a bit cheated if that was what I had to rely on for everyday viewing (my aerial reception is a bit rubbish hence the cable box). In addition the EPG cuts out any live feed images when you are viewing other channels - last seen c2001 with my Nokia freeview box! The recent Wimbledon finals in 3D looked amazing an gave a viewing experience that actually made me want to watch the tennis - motion was not a problem though some of the 100mph shots occasionally showed a slight ghosting. I would be very happy if the rugby world cup is broadcast in 3D.

Standard Blu-ray with progressive scan 1080p looks amazing. I can really see what the fuss is about - even my wife agreed that it was a different experience. Colours were life-like and detail resolution was superb. 3D blu-ray looks good but i have only seen a few demos and one film (Tron legacy) which look OK, if a bit gimmicky. The depth perception with 3D is enhanced and the motion is smooth with little of the ghosting/double-images that plague the Samsungs.

Is 37" too small to appreciate a 3D film? Well, I did sit closer but I got a bit of a headache after 40 minutes. In our room, it is the right size but I can understand those who hanker after a 55" screen for a media den.

I own a PS3 and spun COD Black Ops. It was a very impressive experience in 3D; a little bit too impressive, actually, as I got a bit of motion sickness! Perhaps too much reality is a bad thing.

I got the wifi dongle from Amazon. It looks nice but I get Iplayer via my Virgin box and I am not a twitterer or facebook user. The Skype app might be useful but the camera costs about £120. I think that I'll wait.

The glasses are £100+ each and I got 2 thrown in when I bought from a panasonic dealer (sorry Amazon) which I think represents good value.

    Overall
Lovely TV, great for games, films (2D/3D) and daily viewing. Pleased don't agonize over choosing, it is a solid product that performs beautifully.

OMG and then some! 2 Dec 2011
    Size Name:32 - inch
OMG - what can i say. Have now had the TV for three days - amazing!!! I had an old CRT for 15 years and thought i would replace when it went kaput. I noticed the reviews this got and thought "i have to have it". I have not been dissapointed. I dont have SKY, i dont have VIRGIN, i dont have blue ray and i dont have games comsoles all i have is a digital aerial. I wanted a solid 2D TV to watch 2D TV on without the pixeled fuzz and blue haze in the picture that i have seen for years from every single other LCD TV.

It took 6 minutes to set up and away we went. The wife was speachless whilst watching Frozen planet on BBC1 in SD. The TV's ability to upscale is great. Watched Transformers on Film4 last night and to me being a non HD person it looked just so amazing. Black was black and white was funnily enough white.

I could go on for days writing about how good it is. If you are like me a normal guy who just wants a very clear picture, lots of ability to adjust the picture and not experience the blocky, pixel fuzz in the picture that occurs on nearly every single other LCD TV then get this one. It does have to be said that some of the lesser freeview channels that has a low strength signal did fuzz a tiny bit. But nothing to worry about.

I have the 32" model and its plenty big enough. Will now invest in Freesat to get the HD channels and an even better signal. But out of the box this will not disapoint. In fact its so good that i had to turn off the image enhancers as they made some films look too sharp and video like. Will need to fiddle but well worth the money. £499 from Amazon.

    awesome 18 May 2011

i bought this TV with the BDT 310 3D blu-ray player, WOW. This is my first venture into flat screen tv's as i had a reliable crt, and swore not to change it until it goes kaput! a visit to my local Panasonic shop after reading some pro reviews we demo'd some 3D discs and i was smitten, i thought it would be another gimmick having only experienced 3D at cinema's in the 80's, but no, it is incredible, particularly Avitar 3D, the depth is breath taking. 2D blu-rays are similarly beautiful, details galore.
the upscaling with DVD's also knocked me back, i shant be rushing out to replace my favorites any time soon, with the original Italian Job looking like a modern day shot movie.
I an viewing TV through a new 1TB Sky HD+ box and again Excellent with ( i think ) SD output being upscaled looking so much better than i had hoped, with HD progammes looking stunning. i have no ariel, so do not know what the Freeview HD tuner is like, the same for the inbuilt Freesat HD. The unit is incedibly thin and looks high quality, even the sound is not too bad, although i have it running through a stereo amp. the menu's are good and is easy to set up ( i used the Spears and Bunsil blu-ray ).it also made it seem worth it when a techno geek friend came round and told me "that is the best pictue i have ever seen", i agree, you would have to be seriouly fussy not to like this TV
