Near the best ! 16 Dec 2007
Finally a phone which you can tell it to shut up during the night automatically!!

I am using cordless phones for more than 12 years, this is one of the best.
Pros:
Brilliant screen resolution
Very clear sound on both speaker/handset mode
Easy to use Phonebook with 200 entries
Very good battery life
Sleep mode (turn the phone off during night on a time set by you)
Many Ringtones
Reasonable answering machine record time (40min)
Ability to send SMS through landline phone (works with BT)
Alarm clock (could be set to everyday)

Cons:
Screen remains on for the duration of charging
There is no battery low alert
Limited Wallpapers
Caller lists could be better (specially with a delete all function)
Shiny finish needs clean hands!

UPDATE: as one user posted as comment, you can assign Phonebook contacts to different categories, and then assign each category a different ringtone. There are 9 categories in all, and you can rename them; e.g. family, work, etc...

* I'm using the phone for 8 months now.

Choosing a cordless phone is fraught with difficulty due to the wide variety of choice. I chose Panasonic based on the widespread good reviews by users as they provide the most important feedback, plus it has a headphone socket, something I use. Its also DECT so clarity isnt an issue. Not sure about the black glossy look but they do look cool as Im fed up with silver electronic items

I have a 3 phone setup, plugged them all in and off they went, and yes you must use the plug in wall socket lead provided, dont use the old or existing one.

I dont buy BT ones anymore as they dont seem to last mechanically (buttons etc)so users reviews were helpful in directing me to Panasonic

A reasonable phone overall.

It has a nice clear display and the menu options are easy to navigate around. The screen has plenty of space to display phone book entries, unlike our old Binatone phone where it could only hold names up to 8 characters. I also like the feature where, once you've entered all the contacts into the address book, you can automatically copy them to the other handset. This saves you time having to enter the phone contacts onto each phone separately.

There is a good selection of polyphonic ring tones although most of them are pretty poor in sound quality compared to what you can get on a mobile phone.

The reception seems fine and voice quality is on a par with our old phone.

The only negative point so far is that when the handset is resting on the charging cradle the screen is permanently lit up. It does not auto-dim or enter a screen saver mode like some mobile phones do. If you have one of these phones in your bedroom this can be a pain as it lights up the room at night. You'd be surprised how much light these phone produce in the dark! There is an option to adjust the screen contrast in the settings but it is not enough. I would imagine it consumes more power too this way.

You can leave the phone off the charging cradle to get round this problem but it defeats the purpose of allowing the phone to remain fully charged overnight. I don't want to mess around having to take the phone off the cradle every night. If anyone knows a fix for this let me know.
