A really good phone, 26 Mar 2008
I bought this phone for my home office, and it does the job brilliantly. Beyond the telephonic basics, it has excellent sound quality and volume, easy-press buttons, fully illuminated display, simple menu system and so on, all in a relatively small handset. The answerphone unit is really small, and easy to operate. For a phone of this price, it is unusual to see a colour screen. The night mode is really handy for a home office, as it silences the phone outside office hours.
I've given it five stars because I really like it, but it has one major flaw: The choice of voice for the answerphone. Of all the voices in all the world that Panasonic could have chosen, it chose... a bored-sounding fresh "art-a-skoo teenage-ah". It is so obviously wrong, but it makes me smile every time I hear it. It is so bad it's almost genius.

Quality Phone, 23 Sep 2007
One aspect of this phone not covered elsewhere,(and my sole reason for buying it)is the ability to bar groups of calls via the handset.Do you have family members constantly calling premium rate numbers or mobiles.Up to 6 dialling codes can be barred and therefore calls cannot be made to them. I currently have 0870,0901,07(mobile) all barred and my phone bill has dropped over £25 a month.
Some phone providers will bar premium rate numbers at source,(my provider Sky doesn't)however this can be inflexible. It may be you need to call say an 0870 number (nearly all businesses use these),if so you can remove the barring (pin protected) temporarily, then put it on again after your call.
On a slighly negative note the "one touch dialing facility" is actually two touches, you have to press and hold down the corresponding key (1,2,3,etc),this brings up your phonebook entry, and then you have to press the green dial key.Why Panasonic couldn't have made this the same as most mobiles, where you only have to press and hold the one key to dial I do not know, and how they get away with describing it as "one touch dialling facility" is a mystery.
Night mode is handy, whereby all incoming calls will not ring between times preset by yourself ( default 23.00 - 07.00),you can tweak the settings here by use of a ring delay facility ( callers ringing for more then 60 / 90 secs etc will get through, also you can categorise callers into groups and allow access to individual groups regardless of night mode settings. Very handy for close family.
I recently sold the more expensive Panasonic model for this and I believe this is the better choice. It has all the same important features, is ergonomically better (in my opinion)and only loses features that very few people would use (PC link etc). Let's be honest, how many of us want to import our MS Outlook contacts into our phone via the PC. By the time you've figured it all out you could have input all the numbers anyway
Finally for 0870 numbers (a modern day rip off) try web site "say no to 0870" it will often provide a proper "area code" number which will be free if you have a call plan with your provider.0870 numbers are excluded from call plans

Great phone, but how to change the ringtone on the base set?, 11 Sep 2008
I bought this phone on the recommendation of other reviewers here and have not been disappointed. Its a good looking phone with a great set of features - good value for money all around.
Clarity is great even some distance from the base set. Unlike one reviewer here, I rather like the voice of the girl used for the phone message announcement - in fact, I often find myself pressing the message play button on the phone just to hear her say 'There are NOOOO messages'! How sad am I???
Only minor gripe I have is that, whilst I've changed the ringtone on the hand set, I haven't found a way to change the ringtone on the base set so I've ended up with two different ringtones playing at the same time. Well, at least we'll never miss a call!!!
